* Qatar will soon reveal a National Youth Policy, making it the seventh Middle Eastern nation to have one. The draft for this policy has been in the making for 1.5-years, with a survey involving 5,000 people to figure out which topics to focused on. The policy focused on seven main areas, including training, business, health and environment, among others. The aim of the policy is to integrate youth in the process of achieving development, as well as guide state officials in the orientation of young people. The policy draft is explained to be a common national vision that defines the needs and priorities of youth and provide equitable distribution of the necessary resources.
* The Kuwaiti academic delegation withdrew from the conference of the "Middle East Association for the Advancement of Colleges of Business Administration" due to the participation of the Israeli delegation. The Kuwaiti Youth Association for Al-Quds tweeted in regards to the event saying that this is the official Kuwaiti position towards the Zionist occupation.

* ستكشف قطر قريباً عن استراتيجية وطنية للشباب، مما يجعلها الدولة الشرق أوسطية السابعة التي تمتلك واحدة. كانت مسودة هذه الاستراتيجية قيد الإعداد منذ عام ونصف عام، حيث تم تنفيذ مسح شمل 5000 شخص لمعرفة الموضوعات التي يجب التركيز عليها. ركزت الاستراتيجية على سبع مجالات رئيسية، بما في ذلك التدريب والأعمال والصحة والبيئة، من بين أمور أخرى. وتهدف الاستراتيجية إلى دمج الشباب في عملية تحقيق التنمية، وكذلك توجيه مسؤولي الدولة نحو الاهتمام بالشباب. وتم شرح مسودة الاستراتيجية على أنها رؤية وطنية مشتركة تحدد احتياجات وأولويات الشباب وتوفر التوزيع العادل للموارد الضرورية.
* انسحب الوفد الأكاديمي الكويتي من مؤتمر "جمعية الشرق الأوسط للنهوض بكليات إدارة الأعمال" بسبب مشاركة وفد إسرائيلي. وغردت جمعية شباب القدس الكويتية بخصوص الحدث قائلة إن هذا هو الموقف الكويتي الرسمي من الاحتلال الصهيوني.
الاقتصاد وريادة الأعمال
* On March 3, at least 11 young people died due to a fire inside a shopping market in Damascus, Syria. These young Syrians had chosen to sleep at their workplace to save up on transportation costs, as the economic crisis in Syria worsens. Activists highlighted the tragedy saying “besides security guards, those who sleep at their workplace have no choice but to do that because of the terrible economic conditions we live in.”
* Morocco's High Commission for Planning (HCP) reported that the official unemployment rate for 2021 was 39.7%, a slight increase from 2020's 39.4%. The World Bank released its "Morocco Job Landscape" report which highlighted major structural issues burdening the development of the Moroccan labor market. One of those reasons was youth inclusion, as 29% of youth do not benefit from education, employment or training.
* The Saudi-based King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) launched vocation training courses to support youth empowerment to improve livelihoods in Yemen. The project is set to train 1,250 young men and women in eight Yemeni governorates in several fields, such as mobile phone maintenance, photography and video editing, etc. The goal is support youth's entrance into the labor market and to launch their own projects.
* The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in collaboration with the EU signed on a 20-million euro deal to increase support to Yemen's cultural sector, which aims at creating 8 thousand new job opportunities. This project will launch in June of this year and will last 4-years and will be applied in several Yemeni sectors. The reason for this is that cultural is a unifying factor for all Yemenis, regardless of differences, and by supporting it, they are one step closer to sustainable peace and development.
* The seventh annual Women for Success conference in Cairo, Alamein and Alexandria opened on February 26th. The US government in cooperation with Google announced the expansion of a skills training program for Egyptian women, youth and entrepreneurs. The program trained 500 Egyptians last year and teaches digital marketing skills. The goal is to help women and youth gain the digital skills needed to take their careers and businesses to the next level.
* Mondelez Egypt held practical and visual training for a group of youth in its company, to assist them in gaining necessary skills for the work field. This training allowed the trainees to learn from their trainers, and then apply what they had learned in different sectors of the company. It is held annually in parallel with Egypt's 2030 Vision which aims at developing and empowering youth in the labor market.

* في 3 آذار / مارس، لقي ما لا يقل عن 11 شابًا مصرعهم في حريق داخل مركز للتسوق في دمشق، سوريا. اختار هؤلاء الشباب السوريون النوم في أماكن عملهم لتوفير تكاليف النقل، مع تفاقم الأزمة الاقتصادية في سوريا. وسلط النشطاء الضوء على المأساة قائلين "إلى جانب حراس الأمن، لا أحد ينام في مكان عملهم إلا في حال أنهم لا يملكون خيارا آخر، بسبب الظروف الاقتصادية الرهيبة التي نعيشها".
* أفادت المفوضية السامية للتخطيط المغربية أن معدل البطالة الرسمي لعام 2021 بلغ 39.7٪، بزيادة طفيفة عن 39.4٪ في 2020. وأصدر البنك الدولي تقريره المعنون بـ "مشهد الوظائف في المغرب" والذي سلط الضوء على أهم القضايا الهيكلية التي تثقل كاهل تنمية سوق العمل المغربي. ومن هذه الأسباب إدماج الشباب، حيث إن 29٪ من الشباب لا يستفيدون من التعليم أو العمل أو التدريب.
* أطلق مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية في السعودية، دورات تدريبية مهنية لدعم تمكين الشباب لتحسين سبل العيش في اليمن. وتم إعداد المشروع لتدريب 1250 شابًا وشابة يمنيين في ثماني محافظات يمنية في عدة مجالات، مثل صيانة الهاتف المحمول والتصوير الفوتوغرافي وتحرير الفيديو، من بين أمور أخرى. والهدف هو دعم دخول الشباب إلى سوق العمل وإطلاق مشاريعهم الخاصة.
* وقعت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (اليونسكو) بالتعاون مع الاتحاد الأوروبي صفقة بقيمة 20 مليون يورو لزيادة الدعم للقطاع الثقافي اليمني، والذي يهدف إلى إيجاد 8 آلاف فرصة عمل جديدة. سيبدأ هذا المشروع في يونيو من هذا العام وسيستمر لمدة 4 سنوات وسيتم تطبيقه في العديد من القطاعات اليمنية. والسبب في ذلك هو أن الثقافة هي عامل موحد لجميع اليمنيين، بغض النظر عن الاختلافات، ومن خلال دعمها، فهم يقتربون خطوة واحدة من السلام والتنمية المستدامين.
* افتتح المؤتمر السنوي السابع "نساء من أجل النجاح" في القاهرة والعلمين والإسكندرية في 26 من شباط / فبراير. وأعلنت الحكومة الأمريكية بالتعاون مع جوجل عن توسيع برنامج التدريب على المهارات للنساء والشباب ورجال الأعمال المصريين، حيث قام البرنامج بتدريب 500 مصري العام الماضي وقام بتعليم مهارات التسويق الرقمي. ويهدف البرنامج إلى مساعدة النساء والشباب على اكتساب المهارات الرقمية اللازمة للارتقاء بمهنهم وأعمالهم إلى المستوى التالي.
* عقدت شركة مونديليز مصر تدريبًا عمليًا ومرئيًا لمجموعة من الشباب في شركتها، لمساعدتهم في اكتساب المهارات اللازمة لمجال العم، حيث أتاح هذا التدريب للمتدربين التعلم من مدربيهم، ومن ثم تطبيق ما تعلموه في قطاعات مختلفة من الشركة. يقام هذا التدريب سنويًا بالتوازي مع رؤية مصر 2030 التي تهدف إلى تطوير وتمكين الشباب في سوق العمل.
النزاعات
* Continuous clashes between Palestinians in Nablus and Jenin over attempted settlement buildings. Palestinians have burned down occupation forces tents near a military point in Jarzim mountain in occupied Nablus. As well, constant lashes in Sbeih mountain in the town of Beita with hundreds of injuries and 9 martyrs thus far.
* Occupation forces arrested 19 Palestinians in the west bank this week, and killed 3 Palestinians Tuesday night, one near Beit Lahm and two more in the north of the west bank aged 22 and 18.
* Occupation forces invaded Al-Qabatieh town and arrested four youth, three of whom had been arrested by them prior. They later arrested two more in the town of Barqeen, and a third a few hours later. The youngest of the arrested is a 16-year old from al-Khalil. These arrests are used as intimidation tactics against Palestinians in attempt of expelling them from their homes., by arresting them and their kids.
* Palestinian youth aged 19 killed after allegedly attempting to stab two police officers in Jerusalem's Old City.
* Center for the Defense of the Individual in Israel (HaMoked), an Israeli human rights organization, filed a complaint against Israeli forces use of nightly arrests of minors as a scare tactic. The organization demanded use of proper procedure through which minors are requested to come in with their parents.
This complaint came after new numbers showed that over 1000 Palestinian minor was arrested through the same method in 2021, 73 of them being below the age of 14.
* Arab students told their stories about seeking refuge in neighboring countries during the Ukraine-Russia war. Minister of Immigration and Egyptians Affairs Abroad stated that there are about 6 thousand Egyptians in Ukraine, 3 thousand of whom are students. Facebook groups were created in attempt of linking Arabs seeking refuge with those willing of giving refuge, such as "Ehna Sandak" and "Egyptians in Ukraine". Volunteers in nearby countries, such as Germany and Romania, are organizing buses and shelter for those approaching the border and assisting them with their border passing.
* Arab youth studying in Ukraine have relayed stories on how they were not allowed to board trains to seek refuge during the current war. Multiple stories of Arabs, Indians and Africans being met with aggressive and violent treatment from police and security officials. At first they were told that only women and children were boarding, but then Ukrainian men and pets were let aboard.
* Kingdom of Saudi Arabia places a young Saudi who was arrested as a minor on death row. Abdullah el-Howaiti was 14 years old when he was sentenced to execution in 3 years’ time for armed robbery and murder. The verdict was overturned in 2020, and he was sentenced again. HRW and Reprieve US have stated that el-Howaiti and five other's confessions were extracted with torture or threats of torture.
النزاعات
* تتواصل الاشتباكات بين جنود الاحتلال الإسرائيلي مع شباب فلسطينيين في نابلس وجنين بسبب محاولات بناء مستوطنات جديدة. أحرق فلسطينيون خياما لقوات الاحتلال قرب نقطة عسكرية في جبل جرزيم في نابلس المحتلة. كما تعرضت منطقة جبل الصبيح ببلدة بيتا لهجمات جيش الاحتلال المتواصلة والتي خلفت مئات الجرحى و9 شهداء حتى الآن.
* اعتقلت قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، هذا الأسبوع، 19 فلسطينيا في الضفة الغربية، وقتلت 3 فلسطينيين ليل الثلاثاء، أحدهم قرب بيت لحم واثنان آخران شمال الضفة الغربية تتراوح أعمارهم بين 22 و18 عاما.
* اقتحمت قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلية بلدة القباطية، واعتقلت أربعة شبان، كان ثلاثة منهم قد اعتقلتهم قبل ذلك. فيما بعد اعتقلوا اثنين آخرين في بلدة برقين، والثالث بعد ساعات قليلة. أصغر المعتقلين يبلغ من العمر 16 عاما من مدينة الخليل. وتستخدم هذه الاعتقالات كأسلوب ترهيب بحق الفلسطينيين في محاولة لطردهم من منازلهم، وذلك باعتقالهم وأطفالهم.
* لقي شاب فلسطيني حتفه على يدي جنود الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، حيث قتل الشاب الذي يبلغ من العمر 19 عامًا بعد محاولته المزعومة لطعن ضابطي شرطة في البلدة القديمة بالقدس.
* قدم مركز الدفاع عن الفرد في إسرائيل (هموكيد)، وهو منظمة إسرائيلية لحقوق الإنسان، شكوى ضد استخدام قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلية للاعتقالات الليلية للقصر كتكتيك للتخويف والترهيب. وطالبت المنظمة باستخدام الإجراء المناسب الذي يُطلب من القاصرين من خلاله الحضور مع والديهم. وتأتي هذه الشكوى بعد أن أظهرت أرقام جديدة أنه تم اعتقال أكثر من 1000 فلسطيني بنفس الطريقة عام 2021، كان 73 منهم دون سن 14.
* روى الطلاب العرب قصصهم حول البحث عن ملاذ في الدول المجاورة خلال الأسبوع الماضي مع اعلان روسيا الحرب على اوكرانيا. وصرح وزير الهجرة وشؤون المصريين بالخارج بوجود نحو 6 آلاف مصري في أوكرانيا، منهم 3 آلاف طالب. وتم إنشاء مجموعات على فيسبوك في محاولة للربط بين العرب الذين يلتمسون اللجوء وبين الراغبين في منح اللجوء، مثل "إحنا سندك" و "المصريون في أوكرانيا". ينظم المتطوعون في البلدان المجاورة، مثل ألمانيا ورومانيا، حافلات ومأوى لمن يقتربون من الحدود ويساعدونهم في عبور الحدود.
* نقل الشباب العرب الذين يدرسون في أوكرانيا قصصًا عن عدم السماح لهم بركوب القطارات بحثًا عن ملاذ خلال الحرب الحالية. قصص متعددة عن العرب والهنود والافريقيين الذين قوبلوا بمعاملة عدوانية وعنيفة من قبل مسؤولي الشرطة والأمن. في البداية قيل لهم إن النساء والأطفال فقط هم من يصعدون على متن القطارات، ولكن بعد ذلك تم السماح للرجال الأوكرانيين والحيوانات الأليفة بالصعود.
* في المملكة العربية السعودية، سيتم اعدام شاب سعودي كان قد اعتقل عندما كان قاصرا. كان عبد الله الحويطي يبلغ من العمر 14 عامًا عندما حكم عليه بالإعدام في غضون 3 سنوات بتهمة السطو المسلح والقتل. وتم إلغاء الحكم في عام 2020، ولكن حكم عليه مرة أخرى. وذكرت منظمة هيومان "رايتس ووتش" ومنظمة "ريبريف الولايات المتحدة" أن اعترافات الحويطي وخمسة آخرين انتُزعت منهم تحت التعذيب أو التهديد بالتعذيب.
التنمية
* The Directorate of Youth and Sports in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate organized training courses on preparing young leaders within the volunteer clubs. The training course included a variety of topics, including introducing young people to volunteering, its importance and its various forms, and the role of volunteers within youth centers in spreading the culture of volunteering, while opening the door to interaction among young people about the concept of volunteer leadership and how to choose effective leaders.
* The Directorate of Youth and Sports in the Red Sea governorate organized a seminar on violence against women and mutual respect. The seminar discussed the different forms of violence against women, preventing them from seeking education, not granting them inheritance, among others.
* Al Dhafra Youth Council organized a survey to learn more about the needs and suggestions of youth in regards to different topics. The goal was to learn more about their challenges, hopes and ambitions, so that they can specify the needs of youth in the city so they can begin taking actual initiatives.
التنمية
* نظمت مديرية الشباب والرياضة بمحافظة كفر الشيخ في مصر، دورات تدريبية عن إعداد قادة شباب داخل أندية التطوع. واشتملت هذه الدورة التدريبية على مواضيع متنوعة منها تعريف الشباب بالتطوع وأهميته وأشكاله المختلفة، ودور المتطوعين داخل المراكز الشبابية في نشر ثقافة التطوع، مع فتح باب التفاعل بين الشباب حول مفهوم القيادة التطوعية وكيفية اختيار القادة الفعالين.
* نظمت مديرية الشباب والرياضة بمحافظة البحر الأحمر في مصر ندوة عن العنف ضد المرأة والاحترام المتبادل. وناقشت الندوة مختلف أشكال العنف ضد المرأة، ومنعها من طلب التعليم، وعدم منحها الميراث، وغيرها من التحديات التي تواجهها المرأة في مصر.
* نظم مجلس شباب الظفرة استبيانا لمعرفة المزيد عن احتياجات ومقترحات الشباب في مواضيع مختلفة. كان الهدف هو معرفة المزيد عن تحدياتهم وآمالهم وطموحاتهم، حتى يتمكنوا من تحديد احتياجات الشباب في المدينة حتى يتمكنوا من البدء في اتخاذ مبادرات فعلية.
التعليم
* The independent committee for elections at Middle East University chose to enact the "Ana Usharek" program. The program looks to enhance youth participation in decision making and to provide them with negotiation skills, communication mechanisms, and time management methods to ensure academic and intellectual efficiency. This is to help them gain skills that they can also use outside of the academic setting.
* The Accounting division at King Talal college at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) won the certified financial auditor competition held by CFA, Jordan Branch. Several Jordanian universities competed, but PSUT ended up winning the final, and is now set to compete in the preliminary finals which are allegedly set to be held in Dubai next month.
* The international Robotics competition ARC will be held in New Al-elmeen city. It is organized by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, in cooperation with the Innovation Complex in Borg El Arab represented by the Etisal Association, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology, and the International University of El Alamein. This competition features 74 teams and the aim is spread robot building technology to professionals in the middle east and North Africa.
* Egyptian President Abdelfatah el-Sisi stated that the government had announced programming scholarships equivalent to $30,000 per person. However, despite 300 thousand applicants, only 111 qualified for the scholarship. He stated that this showed the faults in the education system and how this could affect the country’s future.
التعليم
* اختارت اللجنة المستقلة للانتخابات في جامعة الشرق الأوسط تفعيل برنامج "أنا أشارك". الهدف من البرنامج هو تعزيز مشاركة الشباب في صنع القرار، ومساعدة الشباب على اكتساب مهارات التفاوض وآليات الاتصال وأساليب إدارة الوقت لضمان الكفاءة الأكاديمية والفكرية، وذلك لمساعدتهم على اكتساب المهارات التي يمكنهم استخدامها خارج الإطار الأكاديمي.
* فاز قسم المحاسبة في كلية الملك طلال في جامعة الأميرة سمية للتكنولوجيا في الأردن بمسابقة المدقق المالي المعتمد التي أقامها المحللون الماليون المعتمدون، فرع الأردن. تنافست عدة جامعات أردنية، لكن انتهى الأمر بفوز جامعة الأميرة سمية للتكنولوجيا بالمرحلة النهائية، وتستعد الآن للتنافس في التصفيات النهائية التي يُزعم أنها ستقام في دبي الشهر المقبل.
* تقام مسابقة الروبوتات الدولية "آ بي سي" في مدينة العلمين الجديدة في مصر. تنظم المسابقة أكاديمية البحث العلمي والتكنولوجيا، بالتعاون مع مجمع الابتكار ببرج العرب ممثلة بجمعية اتصالات، والأكاديمية العربية للعلوم والتكنولوجيا والنقل البحري، والجامعة المصرية اليابانية للعلوم والتكنولوجيا، وجامعة العلمين الدولية. وتضم هذه المسابقة 74 فريقًا والهدف منها هو نشر تقنية بناء الروبوتات للمحترفين في الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا.
* صرح الرئيس المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي أن الحكومة أعلنت عن منح لبرمجة تعادل 30 ألف دولار أميركي للفرد. ومع ذلك، على الرغم من 300 ألف متقدم بطلب للمشاركة، فإن 111 فقط مؤهل للحصول على المنحة. وذكر أن ذلك يوضح عيوب نظام التعليم وكيف يمكن أن يؤثر ذلك على مستقبل الدولة.

* The first ever Middle East and North Africa Humanitarian Leadership Conference was held in Egypt this week. The point of the conference was to address the key humanitarian concerns in the region. The two-day conference, organized by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Egyptian Red Crescent Society (ERCS) discussed enhanced collaboration to alleviate human suffering and support those affected by climate change and related disasters, conflicts and health emergencies. An estimate of 70 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance, and young people in particular continue to pay the price of protracted crises and disasters. The region also has the highest youth unemployment rates, which only continue to get worse as a result of these crises. One goal the participants agreed upon was to empower youth as agents of change in changing leaders' mindset and advocating for change and addressing the climate and environmental crises.
* "Youth Love Egypt" organization organized a dialogue session on "The Road to the 27th Climate Summit" with the participation of environmental experts from different countries of the world. The session featured several topics, including climate change, and current environmental challenges, among others. The participating organizations announced the Alliance of Major Groups accredited to the United Nations Program until the 27th summit.

* عُقد أول مؤتمر على الإطلاق للقيادة الإنسانية في الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا في مصر هذا الأسبوع. كان الهدف من المؤتمر معالجة الشواغل الإنسانية الرئيسية في المنطقة. وناقش المؤتمر الذي استمر لمدة يومين، ونظمه الاتحاد الدولي لجمعيات الصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر وجمعية الهلال الأحمر المصري، تعزيز التعاون لتخفيف المعاناة الإنسانية ودعم المتضررين من تغير المناخ والكوارث والنزاعات والصراعات ذات الصلة، وحالات الطوارئ الصحية. وشدد المؤتمر على أنه هناك ما يقدر بنحو 70 مليون شخص بحاجة ماسة إلى المساعدة الإنسانية، ولا يزال الشباب على وجه الخصوص يدفعون ثمن الأزمات والكوارث التي طال أمدها. كما تعد منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال افريقيا الأسوأ من ناحية ارتفاع معدلات البطالة بين الشباب، والتي تزداد سوءًا نتيجة لهذه الأزمات. وكان أحد الأهداف التي اتفق عليها المشاركون هو تمكين الشباب كعوامل تغيير في تغيير عقلية القادة والدعوة للتغيير والتصدي لأزمات المناخ والبيئة.
* نظمت منظمة شباب بتحب مصر جلسة حوار حول "الطريق إلى القمة المناخية السابعة والعشرين" بمشاركة خبراء بيئيين من مختلف دول العالم. تضمنت الجلسة عدة مواضيع، بما في ذلك تغير المناخ، والتحديات البيئية الحالية، من بين أمور أخرى. وأعلنت المنظمات المشاركة عن اعتماد تحالف المجموعات الرئيسية لدى برنامج الأمم المتحدة حتى القمة السابعة والعشرين.
