السياسة والاندماج السياسي
* Middle East Eye reported that there is a recent shift in young Tunisians’ support for current president Qais Saied. While Saied has been a popular leader among youth, his recent power grab is diminishing his popularity among youth, especially as they see that he is threatening Tunisia’s nascent democracy. Many young Tunisians now believe that Saied never respected the constitution, and he treated all his opponents as traitors, as many young Tunisians plan to boycott the constitution referendum.
* Iranian reformist activist, Mohsen Mirdamadi, stated that many young reformists have come to believe that the system is not reformable. He added, “people came to vote several times, at the invitation of reformist figures, in the hope that it might lead to a breakthrough, but most of them reached the conviction that the reformists and the entire system are ineffective.”
* Mauritanian security forces arrested young activists, following a protest against the rise in fuel prices. Security personnel dispersed the demonstration called by the opposition “Kafana” movement, and arrested its leader, Yacoub Ould Lamrabet, along with activists in the movement. The sit-in denounced the Mauritanian government's raising of fuel prices, as "unfair to the Mauritanian people and will be reflected in the prices of foodstuffs." It is worth noting that the Ministry of Petroleum, Minerals, and Energy announced that it had decided to raise fuel prices in the country.
* Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the government will cancel student loan interest, which was a plan originally suggested by the opposition. “We have agreed in the cabinet meeting that you will have to pay back the amount you borrowed, nothing more,” Erdogan said in a move interpreted as an effort to win over the young people who make up 13 million of the 62.4 million Turks set to vote next year. Many young people went online to thank not Erdogan, but main opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, with the hashtag #ThankYouKilicdaroglu. The leader of the Republican People’s Party and the likely challenger of Erdogan in the next presidential elections came up with the idea of students just repaying the loan’s principal and not the interest.
* The “We Are All Jordan Youth Commission”, Al-Balqa Branch, held a roundtable discussion session titled “How do I choose a party”. At the beginning of the session, Dr. Muhammad Abu Rumman stressed the need to identify youth’s perceptions and culture regarding structure of political parties. He highlighted that it is important to provide a safe opportunity to demand rights, using local and international political experiences that have contributed to changing the current situation must be met as soon as possible.

* أفاد موقع "ميدل إيست آي" أن هناك تحولا مؤخرا في دعم الشباب التونسي للرئيس الحالي قيس سعيد. في حين كان سعيد يتمتع بشعبية واسعة بين الشباب، إلا أن استيلاءه على السلطة في الآونة الأخيرة قد قلل من شعبيته بين الشباب، خاصة وأنهم يرون أنه يهدد الديمقراطية الوليدة في تونس. ويعتقد العديد من الشباب التونسي الآن أن سعيد لم يحترم الدستور أبدًا، وعامل جميع خصومه كخونة، حيث يخطط العديد من الشباب التونسي لمقاطعة الاستفتاء على الدستور.

* اعتقلت قوات الأمن الموريتانية نشطاء شباب إثر احتجاج على ارتفاع أسعار المحروقات. وقام رجال الأمن بتفكيك التظاهرة التي دعت إليها حركة "كفانا" المعارضة، وقاموا باعتقال زعيمها يعقوب ولد المرابط، إلى جانب ناشطين في الحركة. وندد الاعتصام برفع الحكومة الموريتانية لأسعار المحروقات ووصفها بأنها "غير عادلة للشعب الموريتاني وستنعكس على أسعار المواد الغذائية". والجدير بالذكر أيضا أن وزارة البترول والمعادن والطاقة كانت قد أعلنت مؤخرا أنها قررت رفع أسعار الوقود في البلاد.
* أعلن الرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان أن الحكومة ستلغي فوائد القروض الطلابية، وهي خطة اقترحتها المعارضة في الأصل. وقال أردوغان في خطوة فُسرت على أنها محاولة لكسب الشباب الذين يشكلون 13 مليونًا من أصل 62.4 مليون تركي للتصويت العام المقبل، قال "لقد اتفقنا في اجتماع مجلس الوزراء على أنه سيتعين عليك سداد المبلغ الذي اقترضته، لا أكثر". وذهب العديد من الشباب إلى الإنترنت ليشكروا ليس أردوغان، بل زعيم المعارضة الرئيسي كمال قليجدار أوغلو، مع هاشتاغ (شكرا قليجدار). وكان زعيم حزب الشعب الجمهوري والمنافس المحتمل لأردوغان في الانتخابات الرئاسية المقبلة الشخص الذي اقترح فكرة قيام الطلاب فقط بسداد أصل القرض وليس الفائدة.
* عقدت هيئة "شباب كلنا الأردن" فرع البلقاء جلسة نقاشية بعنوان "كيف أختار حزبا". شدد الدكتور محمد أبو رمان في بداية الجلسة على ضرورة التعرف على تصورات الشباب وثقافتهم فيما يتعلق بهيكلية الأحزاب السياسية. وأوضح أبو رمان أنه من المهم توفير فرصة آمنة للمطالبة بالحقوق، وذلك باستخدام الخبرات السياسية المحلية والدولية التي ساهمت في تغيير الوضع الحالي يجب تلبيتها في أسرع وقت ممكن.
الاقتصاد وريادة الأعمال
* A UNICEF report revealed that about 60% of Iraq’s youth lack the skills necessary for employment and social cohesion. The report, “Revitalizing Education: Are Children and Young People on the Right Track for Skills Development?” highlighted the low levels of skills among children and youth across all age groups, noting that young people in lower income countries may possess the skills needed to earn a living, especially regarding future employment opportunities, decent work opportunities, and entrepreneurial opportunities. In Iraq, where youth represent the largest segment of the population, the report states that “59.2% Young people between the ages of 15-24 lack the digital skills that enable them to perform basic computer-related activities. Young people also lack access to life skills-based education, employability, and entrepreneurial skills that will enable them to have a smooth transition into the labor market. The report adds that there are not many opportunities to provide young people with the skills necessary to raise the level of their civic engagement in order to become active and aware citizens, and to raise the pace of their participation in decision-making processes.
* Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Saleh wrote an article for “Al-Rai Media” discussing the issue of young people of unknown nationality or the “Bidoun”. He indicated that it is important to discuss this topic, especially when it comes to employment, in order to reach a solution that is in everyone's interest. He stated that there should be an analysis of the current situation to understand the number of young people who wish to work and who do not currently have a nationality, as well as those who will enter the labor market in the future. The analysis would provide information about their educational and training level, specializations, age, and gender before matching the government’s needs and requirements.
* The Bahraini Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs said that the country is keen to empowering youth with the necessary skills and expanding their creative and intellectual capacities. He added that the Youth City 2030 will provide 2,400 training opportunities in various fields for five weeks to help turn creative ideas into reality.

* كشف تقرير صادر عن منظمة اليونيسف أن حوالي 60٪ من شباب العراق يفتقرون إلى المهارات اللازمة للتوظيف والتماسك الاجتماعي. التقرير المعنون بـ "تنشيط التعليم: هل الأطفال والشباب على المسار الصحيح لتنمية المهارات؟" سلط الضوء على انخفاض مستويات المهارات بين الأطفال والشباب في جميع الفئات العمرية، مع ملاحظة أن الشباب في البلدان منخفضة الدخل قد يمتلكون المهارات اللازمة لكسب لقمة العيش، لا سيما فيما يتعلق بفرص العمل المستقبلية وفرص العمل اللائق وفرص ريادة الأعمال. أما في العراق تحديدا، حيث يمثل الشباب الشريحة الأكبر من السكان، يذكر التقرير أن "59.2٪ من الشباب العراقيين الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 15 و 24 عامًا يفتقرون إلى المهارات الرقمية التي تمكنهم من أداء الأنشطة الأساسية المتعلقة بالحاسوب. ويشير التقرير أيضا أن الشباب أيضًا يفتقر إلى الوصول إلى التعليم القائم على المهارات الحياتية، والتوظيف، ومهارات تنظيم المشاريع التي ستمكنهم من الانتقال السلس إلى سوق العمل. ويضيف التقرير أنه لا توجد فرص كثيرة لتزويد الشباب بالمهارات اللازمة لرفع مستوى مشاركتهم المدنية ليصبحوا مواطنين فاعلين وواعين، بالإضافة إلى رفع وتيرة مشاركتهم في عمليات صنع القرار.
* كتب الدكتور خالد أحمد الصالح مقالاً في "الرأي ميديا" يناقش موضوع مجهولي الجنسية أو "البدون". وأشار الصالح في مقالته إلى أهمية مناقشة هذا الموضوع، خاصة عندما يتعلق الأمر بالتوظيف، وذلك من أجل الوصول إلى حل يصب في مصلحة الجميع. وذكر الصالح أنه يجب أن يكون هناك تحليل للوضع الحالي لفهم عدد الشباب الذين يرغبون في العمل والذين ليس لديهم جنسية حاليا، وكذلك أولئك الذين سيدخلون سوق العمل في المستقبل. وشدد الصالح أن التحليل سيوفر معلومات حول المستوى التعليمي والتدريبي والتخصصات والعمر والجنس قبل مطابقة احتياجات ومتطلبات الحكومة.
* قال وزير شؤون الشباب والرياضة البحريني، إن الدولة حريصة على تمكين الشباب بالمهارات اللازمة وتوسيع قدراتهم الإبداعية والفكرية. وأضاف أن مدينة الشباب 2030 ستوفر 2400 فرصة تدريبية في مختلف المجالات لمدة خمسة أسابيع للمساعدة في تحويل الأفكار الإبداعية إلى واقع.
النزاعات
* The President of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, stressed on the importance of centering youth in decision-making, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding is a necessity, during the Conference on “Palestinian Youth in East Jerusalem under Occupation”, organized by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, with the support of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Shahid added that the theme of the discussion aligns with his belief in the necessity of centering youth in decision-making, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding.
* Haifaa Adwan wrote an article for Al-Watan News in which she discusses the issue of drug use in Bahrain, as the Bahraini authorities recently seized 50 kilograms of hashish. She stated that there is a clear and deliberate targeting of the Arab Gulf states, especially Bahrain, by some neighboring countries and their affiliated organizations, which are working to try to spread this scourge among the youth and adolescents.

* شدد رئيس الدورة السادسة والسبعين للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، عبد الله شهيد، على أهمية التركيز على دمج الشباب كمحور في عمليات صنع القرار، وحل النزاعات، وبناء السلام، وذلك خلال مؤتمر "الشباب الفلسطيني في القدس الشرقية المحتلة"، والذي نظمته اللجنة المعنية بممارسة الشعب الفلسطيني لحقوقه غير القابلة للتصرف، وبدعم من منظمة التعاون الإسلامي. وأضاف شهيد أن موضوع المناقشة يتوافق مع إيمانه بضرورة ادماج الشباب في مركز صنع القرار وحل النزاعات وبناء السلام.
* كتبت هيفاء عدوان مقالاً في الوطن الإخباري تناقش فيه موضوع تعاطي المخدرات في البحرين، حيث صادرت السلطات البحرينية مؤخراً 50 كيلوغراماً من مادة الحشيش. وذكرت أن هناك استهداف واضح ومتعمد لدول الخليج العربي، وخاصة البحرين، من قبل بعض دول الجوار والمنظمات التابعة لها، والتي تعمل على محاولة نشر هذه الآفة بين الشباب والمراهقين.
التنمية
* The social cohesion camp within Al-Hussein Camps for Work and Construction for 2022 was concluded at Al-Ardah Model Youth Center, in Jordan, with the participation of 60 young people aged 12-17 years. In the final day, the participants listened to sessions about drugs and their effects on society along with aspects related to the importance of family and society in institutionalizing social cohesion among youth. The camp looked to raise awareness among young people regarding effective social communication skills as well as providing them with skills related to cognitive self-management.
* The General Authority for Youth and Culture in Gaza, Palestine, organized a coexistence youth camp under the slogan "I am the Palestinian", with the participation of 55 young people representing 12 groups from the National Action. The camp included a lecture on the importance of positive dialogue and the art of persuasion and their role in building human relations.

* اختتم معسكر التماسك الاجتماعي داخل معسكرات الحسين للعمل والبناء لعام 2022 في مركز العارضة النموذجي للشباب في الأردن، بمشاركة 60 شابًا تتراوح أعمارهم بين 12 و17 عامًا. وفي اليوم الأخير من المعسكر، استمع المشاركون إلى جلسات حول المخدرات وتأثيرها على المجتمع إلى جانب جوانب تتعلق بأهمية الأسرة والمجتمع في مأسسة التماسك الاجتماعي بين الشباب. وسعى المخيم إلى رفع مستوى الوعي بين الشباب فيما يتعلق بمهارات التواصل الاجتماعي الفعالة بالإضافة إلى تزويدهم بالمهارات المتعلقة بالإدارة الذاتية المعرفية.
* نظمت الهيئة العامة للشباب والثقافة في قطاع غزة في فلسطين معسكر للتعايش الشبابي تحت شعار "أنا الفلسطيني"، وذلك بمشاركة 55 شابا يمثلون 12 مجموعة من العمل الوطني. وتضمن المعسكر محاضرة عن اهمية الحوار الايجابي وفن الاقناع ودورهما في بناء العلاقات الانسانية.
البيئة
* The World Youth Development Forum held a roundtable dialogue on climate action and green development in Beijing, China. During the session, a number of world youth leaders shared their views on the role of the young people play in dealing with climate change. Among them, Neeshad Shafi, founder of the Youth Network for Climate Action of Arab, said he wants young people to learn more about climate change through the platform and make contributions to climate change. Shafi indicated that more than half of the population in the Middle East region are under 25 years old, and these young people are well educated and can use their knowledge to provide their solutions for climate change as technology becomes more and more important in energy transformation in the region.
* Dr. Yasmine Fouad, the Egyptian Minister of Environment, met with Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, to discuss preparations for Egypt’s hosting of the COP27 on Climate Change in Sharm El-Sheikh. During the meeting, Dr, Fouad explained that the climate conference needs a number of young volunteers to undergo training to participate in the organizational aspects during the upcoming climate conference, as the United Nations needs about 260 volunteers while the conference requires about a thousand volunteers.

* عقد المنتدى العالمي لتنمية الشباب حوار مائدة مستديرة حول العمل المناخي والتنمية الخضراء في العاصمة الصينية بكين. خلال الجلسة، تبادل عدد من قادة شباب العالم وجهات نظرهم حول دور الشباب في التعامل مع تغير المناخ. من بينهم، نيشاد شافي، مؤسس شبكة الشباب للعمل المناخي للعرب، قال إنه يريد أن يتعلم الشباب المزيد عن تغير المناخ من خلال المنصة وأن يقدموا مساهمات في تغير المناخ. وأشار شافي إلى أن أكثر من نصف السكان في منطقة الشرق الأوسط تقل أعمارهم عن 25 عامًا، وأن هؤلاء الشباب متعلمون جيدًا ويمكنهم استخدام معرفتهم لتقديم حلولهم المبتكرة لتغير المناخ حيث تصبح التكنولوجيا أكثر أهمية في تحويل الطاقة في المنطقة.
* التقت الدكتورة ياسمين فؤاد، وزيرة البيئة المصرية، بالدكتور أشرف صبحي، وزير الشباب والرياضة، لمناقشة الاستعدادات لاستضافة مصر لمؤتمر الشركاء بنسخته السابعة والعشرين حول تغير المناخ في شرم الشيخ. وأوضحت الدكتورة فؤاد، خلال الاجتماع، أن مؤتمر المناخ يحتاج إلى عدد من المتطوعين الشباب للخضوع للتدريب للمشاركة في الجوانب التنظيمية خلال مؤتمر المناخ المقبل، حيث تحتاج الأمم المتحدة إلى نحو 260 متطوعًا، بينما يتطلب المؤتمر نحو ألف متطوع.
