السياسة والاندماج السياسي
* Many unemployed youth in Jordan's outer districts have resorted to public office. The recent elections witnessed many recent graduates who had been unemployed since graduations who decided to run for office because "Who else can solve youth's problems other than youth themselves?" The generation of youth is tired of waiting, as problems of drug abuse, depression and suicide rise, some have decided to take matters into their own hands. Despite facing resistance from their communities, which are ruled by tribalism, the youth candidates started small and built from there. The goal was to change voter habits of relying on experience for their choice of candidate, as well as offering a new perspective. Many youth voters resorted to voting for fresh-faced candidates who shared their experience, and even some adults and elderly leaned for the new candidates stating "We should give young people the chance to improve their future".
* Jordanian youth has been facing startling rates of unemployment, despite high levels of education: 63% of Jordanians are under the age of 30, and the rate of unemployment for this cohort is of 50%, which is two times higher than the unemployment rate across the whole nation. As a response to their dissatisfaction with their economic situation has led them to take matters into their own hands and engage in local politics. This influx of new young faces in the political landscape has attracted many young voters, who suffer from a trust gap, according to Oraib Rantawi, director of the Al-Quds Center for Political Studies.
* It appears that the Turkish youth will be key actors in determining the outcome of the upcoming general elections in the country. While current president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has vowed to bring forth a "pious generation", the youth of the country have found themselves increasingly disenfranchised by his policies, which heavily impacts the chances of his Justice and Development Party (AKP) winning the next elections. While previously he was able to connect with the youth, social media has been a key element in the younger generations distancing themselves from his narrative, especially with a decline in religiosity amongst the youth of the country. Gen Z, the youngest generation, represents around 15% of the electorate, their importance cannot be ignored.
* اختُتِمَت hashtag "Moment of Truth for Riad Salameh" began trending on Twitter as hundreds of users called for the arrest of central bank governor Riad Salameh. People accused Salameh of illicit enrichment, corruption, dispersing public funds and covering up for corrupt politicians involved in the misappropriation of depositors' funds and life savings. Salameh denied the allegations, but was charged in absentia for illicit enrichment by Mount Lebanon's attorney general, Judge Ghada Aoun.
* On Tuesday, the Egyptian Minister for Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy inaugurated the Arab-African Forum. He gave a speech, in which he stated that the youth of Egypt constituted a priority for the government. He also stressed the importance of conveying the voice of the youth, especially in the Arab world and Africa, to the rest of the world.
* Starting Monday March 28th, will begin the Arab Meeting for Young Leaders, as part of the World Government Summit and will be hosted by Expo Dubai 2020. Organized by the Arab Youth Center, in collaboration with the Arab League and the GCC, the meeting will host various experts and personalities from different organizations whose main objective is to empower the youth in the region. The activities of the conference will lead to the youth ministerial workshop, during which several ministers will meet with Arab youth from various countries to discuss topics of interest for the youth, notably economic opportunities and education.
* On Wednesday, Razan Al Aqeel represented Arab youth and delivered a speech to the United Nations Security Council, during which she stressed the importance of integrating the youth in decision making and development work opportunities. The ambassador for Arab youth spoke about several topics: the role of youth in reaching peace and security, as well as development in the Arab world, the necessity to include youth in global decision making.

* لجأ الكثير من الشباب العاطلين عن العمل في أحياء الأردن الخارجية إلى المناصب العامة. وشهدت الانتخابات الأخيرة العديد من الخريجين الجدد العاطلين عن العمل منذ التخرج الذين قرروا الترشح للمناصب لأن "من غيره يستطيع حل مشاكل الشباب غير الشباب أنفسهم؟" ولقد سئم جيل الشباب الانتظار، فمع تصاعد مشاكل تعاطي المخدرات والاكتئاب والانتحار، قرر البعض أخذ الأمور بأيديهم. وعلى الرغم من مواجهتهم مقاومة من مجتمعاتهم التي تحكمها القبلية، إلا أن المرشحين الشباب بدأوا صغارًا وبُنوا من هناك. وكان الهدف هو تغيير عادات الناخبين في الاعتماد على الخبرة لاختيار المرشح، فضلاً عن تقديم منظور جديد. ولجأ العديد من الناخبين الشباب إلى التصويت للمرشحين الجدد الذين شاركوا تجربتهم، وحتى بعض البالغين وكبار السن اتجهوا إلى المرشحين الجدد قائلين "يجب أن نمنح الشباب فرصة لتحسين مستقبلهم".
* يواجه الشباب الأردني معدلات بطالة مرتفعة جدا، على الرغم من ارتفاع مستويات التعليم: حيث أن 63٪ من الأردنيين تقل أعمارهم عن 30 عاما ومعدل البطالة لهذه الفئة هو 50٪، وهو ضعف معدل البطالة في البلاد. كرد على عدم رضاهم عن وضعهم الاقتصادي دفعهم إلى تولي زمام الأمور بأيديهم والانخراط في السياسة المحلية. وقد اجتذب هذا التدفق من الوجوه الشابة الجديدة في المشهد السياسي العديد من الناخبين الشباب، الذين يعانون من فجوة الثقة، وفقا لعريب الرنتاوي، مدير مركز القدس للدراسات السياسية.
* يبدو أن الشباب التركي سيكون فاعلا رئيسيا في تحديد نتائج الانتخابات العامة المقبلة في البلاد. وفي حين تعهد الرئيس الحالي رجب طيب اردوغان بإحداث "جيل تقي"، وجد شباب البلاد أنفسهم محرومين بشكل متزايد من قبل سياساته، مما يؤثر بشكل كبير على فرص فوز حزب العدالة والتنمية في الانتخابات المقبلة. وبينما كان الرئيس اردوغان في السابق قادرا على التواصل مع الشباب، كانت وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي عنصرا أساسيا فيما يتعلق في الأجيال الشابة التي تنأى بنفسها عن روايته، خاصة مع انخفاض مدى التدين بين شباب البلاد. والجدير بالذكر أن جيل الشباب يمثل حوالي 15 ٪ من الناخبين، ولا يمكن تجاهل أهميتهم في هذه الانتخابات المقبلة.
* حصل هاشتاغ "ساعة الحقيقة رياض سلامة" على تويتر على مستويات عالية من المشاركة حيث دعا المئات من المستخدمين إلى اعتقال حاكم البنك المركزي رياض سلامة. واتهم الناس سلامة بالثراء غير المشروع والفساد وتشتيت الأموال العامة والتستر على السياسيين الفاسدين المتورطين في اختلاس أموال المودعين ومدخرات الحياة. نفى سلامة هذه المزاعم، لكن وجهت إليه – غيابيا - تهمة الإثراء غير المشروع من قبل المدعي العام في جبل لبنان، القاضية غادة عون.
* افتتح وزير الشباب والرياضة المصري أشرف صبحي يوم الثلاثاء الماضي المنتدى العربي الأفريقي. وألقى خطابا ذكر فيه أن شباب مصر يشكلون أولوية بالنسبة للحكومة المصرية. كما شدد على أهمية نقل صوت الشباب، وخاصة في العالم العربي وأفريقيا، إلى بقية العالم.
* ابتداء من يوم الاثنين 28 آذار / مارس، سيبدأ الاجتماع العربي للقادة الشباب، كجزء من القمة العالمية للحكومات وسيستضيفه إكسبو دبي 2020. وسيستضيف الاجتماع، الذي ينظمه مركز الشباب العربي بالتعاون مع جامعة الدول العربية ودول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، العديد من الخبراء والشخصيات من مختلف المنظمات التي يتمثل هدفها الرئيسي في تمكين الشباب في المنطقة. وستؤدي فعاليات المؤتمر إلى ورشة عمل وزارية للشباب، يلتقي خلالها العديد من الوزراء بالشباب العرب من مختلف الدول لمناقشة الموضوعات التي تهم الشباب، ولا سيما الفرص الاقتصادية والتعليم.
* مثلت رزان العقيل يوم الأربعاء الماضي الشباب العربي وألقت كلمة أمام مجلس الأمن الدولي أكدت خلالها على أهمية إدماج الشباب في صنع القرار وفرص العمل التنموي. وتحدث سفير الشباب العربي عن عدة مواضيع، منها دور الشباب في الوصول إلى السلام والأمن، وكذلك التنمية في العالم العربي، وضرورة إشراك الشباب في عمليات صنع القرار العالمي.
الاقتصاد وريادة الأعمال
* Egypt's largest national banks have launched a new venture fund called Nclude, aimed at supporting FinTech startups in the Middle East and Africa, in order to help young innovators who are looking to bolster the Egyptian economy. The goal is to accelerate FinTechs and driving financial inclusion.
* The European Union, partnered with the Belgian development agency (ENABLE), the United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA) and Sharek Youth Forum, launched the EU-funded Youth Empowerment Program. The project is expected to reach 8000 young Palestinians across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip in the next three years. The aim of the project to create a stronger connection between skilled youth and the labor market, and to promote socioeconomic engagement of youth in the society.
* On Wednesday, the Bridge, Outsource, Transform (B.O.T.) Impact Sourcing Platform was launched by the Jordanian Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with UNICEF and Digital Opportunity Trust Jordan. The goal of this platform is to give Jordanian youth (specifically young women) access to economic opportunities in the digital economy. This platform, which is said to be adapted to the necessities of the Jordanian labor market, will provide the youth with trainings in order to develop their digital skills and access to various types of employment.
* The "Orange Digital Center" was inaugurated in Morocco on the 23rd of March, making it the tenth digital center in the region. The Orange Digital Center is an innovative concept which brings together four strategic programs of the Orange group, namely; a coding school, a solidarity FabLab, an orange Fab start-up accelerator, supported by Orange Ventures Africa, the investment fund. Access to these programs will be free of charge and will provide digital training for young people. These centers allow youth to work as a network by sharing expertise and experiences through different centers across the world to enhance participants employability, encourage innovative entrepreneurship and promote the local digital ecosystem. The inauguration of the 2nd Orange Digital Center in Tunisia's capital took place this Friday. The Orange Digital Center is an innovative concept which brings together four strategic programs of the Orange group. The first center was opened in 2019, and was successful in training 28 thousand youth and assisting 59 start-ups since its launch. The aim of the center is to improve youth employability and support entrepreneurs in their startup ventures.
* Morocco ranked 6th in the region as per the Mastercard Index for Female Entrepreneurs, which entails that Morocco has provided a better environment for its female entrepreneurs to develop their skills. They still lagged behind most other nations in terms of opportunities provided to female business leaders.
* With the launch of the third phase of the development and social development project organized by the Protestant Armenian community in cooperation with the Middle East Council of Churches in Beit El Church in Aleppo, equipment was distributed to the beneficiaries of the professional courses to set up small projects. The number of beneficiaries reached 87 in 14 different fields. Head of the Armenian Protestant Congregation, Reverend Dr. Harotiyon Suleimian, stated that this phase of the project aims at encouraging youth, men and women alike, in launching their own small startups and by distributing the necessary equipment and practical necessities for them to join the labor market and launch their own projects.
الاقتصاد وريادة الأعمال
* أطلقت أكبر البنوك الوطنية في مصر صندوقًا استثماريًا جديدًا يسمى "انكلود"، والذي يهدف إلى دعم الشركات الناشئة في مجال التكنولوجيا المالية في الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا، وذلك من أجل مساعدة المبتكرين الشباب الذين يتطلعون إلى تعزيز الاقتصاد الإلكتروني المصري، وتحديدا فيما يتعلق بدعم التكنولوجيا المالية ودفع الشمول المالي.
* أطلق الاتحاد الأوروبي، بالشراكة مع وكالة التنمية البلجيكية، وصندوق الأمم المتحدة للسكان ومنتدى شارك الشبابي، برنامج تمكين الشباب الذي يموله الاتحاد الأوروبي. ومن المتوقع أن يستقبل المشروع نحو 8000 شاب فلسطيني في جميع أنحاء الضفة الغربية، بما في ذلك القدس الشرقية وقطاع غزة في السنوات الثلاث المقبلة. وأضاف بيان الاتحاد الأوروبي أن المشروع يهدف إلى خلق علاقة أقوى بين الشباب المهرة وسوق العمل، وتعزيز المشاركة الاجتماعية والاقتصادية للشباب في المجتمع.
* أطلق وزير الاقتصاد الرقمي وريادة الأعمال الأردني يوم الأربعاء الماضي، بالتعاون مع اليونيسف وصندوق الفرص الرقمية في الأردن، منصة الربط، والاستعانة، والتحول - مصادر التأثير. الهدف من هذه المنصة هو منح الشباب الأردني (وخاصة الشابات) إمكانية الوصول إلى الفرص الاقتصادية في الاقتصاد الرقمي. هذه المنصة، التي يقال إنها تتكيف مع ضرورات سوق العمل الأردني، ستوفر للشباب دورات تدريبية من أجل تطوير مهاراتهم الرقمية والوصول إلى أنواع مختلفة من التوظيف.

* احتل المغرب المركز 59 في مؤشر ماستركارد لرائدات الأعمال في نسخته السنوية الخامسة. أثبت هذا المؤشر أن المغرب، الذي احتل المرتبة السادسة في المنطقة، وفر بيئة أفضل لرائدات الأعمال لتنمية مهاراتهن. إلا أنهن ما زلن متخلفين عن معظم الدول الأخرى من حيث الفرص المتاحة لرائدات الأعمال.

* Russia began recruiting young men from Syria to fight in its war in Ukraine by offering handsome salaries reaching 3 thousand American dollars a month. Many considered this a con, especially after the same happened for Venezuela last year, but still many signed up through the available channels because of the hefty pay, despite not even knowing the cause war.
* Four Palestinian youth أصيبوا by occupation forces amidst fighting in Al-Duhaysha camp in the center of Bethlehem.
النزاعات
* بدأت روسيا في تجنيد شباب من سوريا للقتال في حربها في أوكرانيا من خلال تقديم رواتب جيدة تصل إلى 3 آلاف دولار أمريكي شهريًا. واعتبر الكثيرون هذا الأمر هو مجرد خدعة، خاصةً بعد أن حدث الشيء نفسه لفنزويلا العام الماضي، لكن لا يزال الكثيرون قد اشتركوا من خلال القنوات المتاحة بسبب الرواتب الباهظة، على الرغم من عدم معرفة سبب الحرب.

التنمية
* Dr. Ghada Khalil, head of the Entrepreneurs 2030 project, which was launched by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, stressed the need to link youth’s ideas to sustainable development goals in order to achieve comprehensive and sustainable economic development projects on the ground. This came during Dr. Khalil's participation in the Rowad 2030 project competition under the title "Student Activities in Egyptian Universities".
* Razan Akil represented the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the United Nation's Conference for Youth. She urged the United Nations at the Security Council to improve youth participation in UN work, and place more faith in youth's capabilities for the future. Akil emphasized that youth participation is not complete without women's participation. Akil participated in the Struggling Leader's Program, which is a platform formed by the United Nations to connect leaders in international organizations with employees in the private sector and civil society.
* Zain Creativity Platform held the “Zain Capture the Flag” competition with a group of talented and specialized cyber skills in the MENA region. The competition was held online, with the participation of 705 young people, distributed among 394 teams from 17 Arab countries. A set of problems and challenges related to various sciences and fields of cybersecurity were presented to the participants in the competition, to work on solving them and reaching the goal.
* "Manga Arabia" announced a competition for Arab content creators in the manga creation field with three winners over the age of 15 to be decided. Financial awards will be given to the winners, with the chance of their work being published or they be recruited to become part of the team.
* Bahrain has made several efforts in order to empower its youth: more than 36 youth centers offer around 900 programs in order for the youth to develop itself in various fields, be it sports or arts or sciences. It has also implemented the "Arab Youth Ambassadors" initiative, which was approved by the Council of Arab youth ministers of the Arab League. This willingness to empower the youth of the country is one of the main pillars of Bahrain's ambition to achieve sustainable development by the year 2030.
* This Wednesday, Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Bahraini head of the government's Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, met with Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Moayad, the Minister of Youth and Sport Affairs, who introduced him the team from the Ministry who worked on a program which won Bahrain the Best Arab government project for youth empowerment. The project that won the award was the "Elite Project", which discovered the strengths of Bahraini youth, and attempted to empower them and develop their abilities.
* The UAE is the guest of honor for the seventh session of the International Festival of Creative Youth, organized by the Moroccan Arts and Creativity Forum in the city of Miknas. The edition was held in honor of the Emirati poet Khaled al-Dhanhani, and aims at promoting the concept peace and coexistence through culture and creativity and fortifying youth against reasons of extremism and violence.
التنمية
* شددت الدكتورة غادة خليل رئيس مشروع رواد 2030 الذي أطلقته وزارة التخطيط والتنمية الاقتصادية على ضرورة ربط أفكارالشباب بأهداف التنمية المستدامة من أجل تحقيق مشاريع تنموية اقتصادية شاملة ومستدامة على أرض الواقع. وجاء ذلك خلال مشاركة د. خليل في مسابقة مشروع رواد 2030 تحت عنوان "الأنشطة الطلابية في الجامعات المصرية".
* مثلت رزان عقيل المملكة العربية السعودية في مؤتمر الأمم المتحدة للشباب. وحثت الأمم المتحدة في مجلس الأمن على تحسين مشاركة الشباب في عمل الأمم المتحدة، وزيادة الثقة بقدرات الشباب في المستقبل. وأكدت عقيل أن مشاركة الشباب لا تكتمل بدون مشاركة المرأة. وشاركت عقيل في برنامج القائد المناضل، وهو عبارة عن منصة شكلتها الأمم المتحدة لربط القادة في المنظمات الدولية بالموظفين في القطاع الخاص والمجتمع المدني.
* أقامت منصة زين للإبداع مسابقة "Zain Capture the Flag" مع مجموعة من الموهوبين في الأمن السيبراني والأشخاص المتخصصين في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا. وأقيمت المسابقة عبر الإنترنت بمشاركة 705 شاباً، موزعين على 394 فريقًا من 17 دولة عربية، وتم طرح مجموعة من المشكلات والتحديات المتعلقة بمختلف علوم ومجالات الأمن السيبراني على المشاركين في المسابقة، للعمل على حلها والوصول إلى الهدف.
* أعلنت "مانجا العربية" عن مسابقة لصانعي المحتوى العرب في مجال صناعة المانجا مع ثلاثة فائزين تزيد أعمارهم عن 15 عاما. وسيتم منح الجوائز المالية للفائزين، مع فرصة نشر أعمالهم أو تجنيدهم ليصبحوا جزءًا من الفريق.
* بذلت البحرين العديد من الجهود لتمكين شبابها: حيث يقدم أكثر من 36 مركزا شبابيا حوالي 900 برنامج من أجل تطوير الشباب في مختلف المجالات، سواء كانت رياضية أو فنون أو علوم. كما نفذت مبادرة "سفراء الشباب العرب" التي أقرها مجلس وزراء الشباب العرب في جامعة الدول العربية. ويعد هذا الاستعداد لتمكين شباب البلاد أحد الركائز الأساسية لطموح البحرين لتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة بحلول عام 2030.
* التقى الشيخ ناصر بن حمد آل خليفة، رئيس المجلس الأعلى للشباب والرياضة في الحكومة البحرينية، اليوم الأربعاء الاربعاء، مع أيمن بن توفيق المؤيد، وزير شؤون الشباب والرياضة، والذي قام بتعريفه على فريق من الوزارة الذي عمل على تصميم برنامج جلب للبحرين جائزة أفضل مشروع حكومي عربي لتمكين الشباب. وكان المشروع الذي فاز بالجائزة هو "مشروع النخبة"، والذي اكتشف نقاط القوة لدى الشباب البحريني، وحاول تمكينهم وتطوير قدراتهم.
* ستكون الإمارات ضيف شرف الدورة السابعة للمهرجان الدولي للشباب المبدع الذي ينظمه الملتقى المغربي للفنون والإبداع بمدينة مكناس. وأقيمت النسخة تكريما للشاعر الإماراتي خالد الظنحاني، وتهدف إلى تعزيز مفهوم السلام والتعايش من خلال الثقافة والإبداع وتحصين الشباب من أسباب التطرف والعنف.
التعليم
* The "Youth as Researchers" project, a new initiative of UNESCO, surveyed around 10,000 young people around the world, who responded to several questions about the impact that the pandemic had had on various topics, such as mental health and education. A specificity of the project: the research is led by the youth. Two teams of young Arab people were formed to interview the Arab youth, with one team focusing on the various actions undertaken by the Arab youth during the pandemic and the other on how effective was online learning in Arab universities during the pandemic. According to the survey, 41% of Arab respondents stated that their understanding of the coursework declined and 38% that their overall class attendance and participation declined.
* Financial services corporation Visa has launched several workshops in Emirati schools, in collaboration with Cashee, a teen banking and ed-tech platform in the MENA region. These workshops aim to increase the financial literacy of the students. They are a part of Visa's participation in Global Money Week (GMW), where companies attempt to increase financial literacy for the youth worldwide.
* The Fatah Movement lost to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in the Bethlehem University Student Council Elections. These elections were the first to be held in two years due to the pandemic. This win is considered to be a great victory for the PFLP and its student wing.
* The Media Committee of the National Council for Women honored the winners of the "Egyptian Youth Change the Picture" initiative, which is an annual initiative launched by the council for researchers and journalism students in Egyptian universities to increase participation in all women related research, scientific research and media production for graduation projects.

* قام مشروع" الشباب كباحثين“، وهو مبادرة جديدة لليونسكو، باستطلاع آراء شباب شمل عشرة آلاف شاب وشابة من كافة أنحاء العالم، الذين أجابوا على العديد من الأسئلة حول تأثير الوباء على مواضيع مختلفة، مثل الصحة العقلية والتعليم. وكانت واحدة من خصائص هذه الدراسة أن الشباب أنفسهم هم من قادوا البحث، حيث تم تشكيل فريقين من الشباب العربي لإجراء مقابلات مع الشباب العربي، حيث ركز فريق واحد على الإجراءات المختلفة التي اتخذها الشباب العربي خلال الجائحة والآخر على مدى فعالية التعلم عبر الإنترنت في الجامعات العربية خلال فترة الحجر. ووفقا للمسح، أفاد 41% من المجيبين العرب أن فهمهم للدورات الدراسية انخفض و38% أن إجمالي الحضور والمشاركة في الحصص قد انخفض.
* أطلقت شركة فيزا للخدمات المالية العديد من ورش العمل في المدارس الإماراتية، بالتعاون مع منصة كاشي وهي منصة مصرفية وتقنية تعليمية للمراهقين في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا. تهدف ورش العمل هذه إلى زيادة مستوى التعليم المالي للطلاب. وهي جزء من مشاركة فيزا في أسبوع المال العالمي، حيث تحاول الشركات زيادة محو الأمية المالية للشباب في جميع أنحاء العالم.
* خسرت حركة فتح أمام الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين في انتخابات مجلس طلاب جامعة بيت لحم. وكانت هذه الانتخابات هي الأولى التي تجرى منذ عامين بسبب الوباء. ويعتبر هذا الفوز انتصاراً عظيماً للجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين وجناحها الطلابي.
* كرمت اللجنة الإعلامية بالمجلس القومي للمرأة الفائزات في مبادرة "الشباب المصري يغير الصورة" وهي مبادرة سنوية يطلقها مجلس الباحثين وطلاب الصحافة في جامعات مصر لزيادة المشاركة في جميع البحوث المتعلقة بالمرأة والبحث العلمي، والإنتاج الإعلامي لمشاريع التخرج.
