Politics and Political Engagement
* Thousands of pro-democracy protesters marched in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum and other cities against the ruling military. The protesters chanted against the army and demanded that military generals step down from power. They stated "We want full civilian rule... We see the military is maneuvering to gain time while the country is deteriorating in all aspects of life." Police used tear gas and batons to disperse protesters in different areas.
* In Syria’s rebel-held northern areas, protests broke over a call from Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu for reconciliation between the Syrian government and opposition who said “we have to get the opposition and the regime to reconcile in Syria. Otherwise, there will be no lasting peace, we always say this.” The comments have sparked calls for protests after Friday prayers in key cities that fall under the control of Turkish forces and their supporters, including Al-Bab, Afrin, and Jarablus.
* The United Nations Population Fund considered that youth empowerment and participation in Libya is still a "missed opportunity", despite their large proportion of the population and the huge potential they possess. Young people, especially girls, face multifaceted challenges, resulting in particular from a long period of conflict and instability in Libya, according to UNFPA. UNFPA announced its current focus on enabling Libyan youth to acquire skills and sustainable livelihood opportunities, in addition to enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the stability and prosperity of Libya.
* The Al-Sharq Youth Forum was launched in Istanbul, Turkey, attended by a thousand young people, including academics and influencers. In his speech during the opening ceremony, Kasapoglu said, "Young people are the owners of new and effective ideas, so we must support them and facilitate the way for them to spread these ideas at the local and global levels." For his part, the forum's president, Wadah Khanfar, said that the forum will witness 30 different activities, 30 seminars and 30 meetings to discuss "how to get out of the region from its pain."

* نظم آلاف المحتجين المؤيدين للديمقراطية مسيرة في العاصمة السودانية الخرطوم ومدن أخرى ضد الجيش الحاكم. وهتف المتظاهرون ضد الجيش وطالبوا بتنحي الجنرالات العسكريين عن السلطة. وقالوا "نريد حكما مدنيا كاملا .. نرى الجيش يناور لكسب الوقت بينما البلاد تتدهور في جميع مناحي الحياة." كما استخدمت الشرطة الغاز المسيل للدموع والهراوات لتفريق المتظاهرين في مناطق متفرقة.
* في المناطق الشمالية التي يسيطر عليها المعارضة السورية، اندلعت الاحتجاجات على دعوة من وزير الخارجية التركي مولود جاويش أوغلو للمصالحة بين الحكومة السورية والمعارضة الذي قال "علينا أن نجعل المعارضة والنظام يتصالحان في سوريا. وإلا فلن يكون هناك سلام دائم، نقول هذا دائمًا". وأثارت التصريحات دعوات للاحتجاجات بعد صلاة الجمعة في مدن رئيسية تقع تحت سيطرة القوات التركية وأنصارها، بما في ذلك الباب وعفرين وجرابلس.

* انطلق منتدى الشرق الشبابي في مدينة اسطنبول بتركيا، وحضره ألف شاب وشابة، بما في ذلك الأكاديميين والمؤثرين. وقال كاساب أوغلو في كلمته خلال حفل الافتتاح إن "الشباب هم أصحاب أفكار جديدة وفعالة، لذلك يجب أن ندعمهم ونيسر لهم السبيل لنشر هذه الأفكار على المستويين المحلي والعالمي". ومن جهته قال رئيس المنتدى وضاح خنفر ان المنتدى سيشهد 30 نشاطا مختلفا و30 ندوة و 30 لقاء لمناقشة "كيفية الخروج من المنطقة من آلامها".
Economics and Entrepreneurship
* Huawei recently inaugurated the 2022 edition of the Huawei Global App Innovation Contest (Apps UP). This year’s edition features a new category, “Best Arabic App”, encouraging regional developers to create app solutions that address the region’s needs and enrich Arabic content, according to a statement from the company. Huawei has set aside more than $1 million as prize money for the global contest, in addition to exciting incentives. Participants also get the opportunity to engage and learn from industry experts and have their apps evaluated by a judging panel of experts in several sectors.
* Data issued by the High Commission for Planning in Morocco showed that more than a quarter of Moroccan youth, aged between 15 and 24 (1.5 million youth), do not work, study, or pursue any training, noting that “about 3 out of 10 unemployed people are young." The report added that nearly three-quarters of the unemployed youth live in urban centers. The unemployment rate, at the national level, was 31.8 percent among young people between 15 and 24 years old, compared to 13.7 percent for people aged 25 to 44 years, and 3.8 percent for people aged 45 years or more. According to the degree level, the unemployment rate among young people aged between 15 and 24 years who hold a high-level degree is 61.2 percent.
* The second week of the "Job Search Clubs" project was launched at the Capital Youth Center, in Jordan, attended by 45 young men and women. The project is implemented by the Business Development Center (BDC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Bluemont in Zaatari Refugee Camp as well as the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The project aims to activate and involve young people in job search activities to enable them to find suitable jobs, in addition to receiving an intensive training course on skills related to searching for work and accessing the hidden labor market.
* The Torra Youth Center, in Jordan, implemented a workshop on financing small projects. Young participants were taught about how to build projects and what conditions should be set at the beginning of the project. They also learned about the reasons for success in projects and the importance of planning, organizing, and successful administrative work.

* افتتحت هواوي مؤخرًا إصدار 2022 من مسابقتها العالمية لابتكار التطبيقات (آبس أب). ويتضمن إصدار هذا العام فئة جديدة، وهي "أفضل تطبيق عربي"، وذلك لتشجيع المطورين الإقليميين على إنشاء حلول تطبيقات تلبي احتياجات المنطقة وتثري المحتوى العربي، وفقًا لبيان صادر عن الشركة. وخصصت الشركة أكثر من مليون دولار كجوائز مالية للمسابقة العالمية، بالإضافة إلى حوافز مثيرة. ويحصل المشاركون أيضًا على فرصة للمشاركة والتعلم من خبراء الصناعة وتقييم تطبيقاتهم من قبل لجنة تحكيم من الخبراء في العديد من القطاعات.
* أظهرت البيانات الصادرة عن المندوبية السامية للتخطيط في المغرب أن أكثر من ربع الشباب المغربي، الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 15 و24 (1.5 مليون شاب)، لا يعملون ولا يدرسون ولا يتلقون أي تدريب، مشيرة إلى أن "حوالي 3 من كل 10 عاطلين عن العمل هم من الشباب." وأضاف التقرير أن ما يقرب من ثلاثة أرباع الشباب العاطلين عن العمل يعيشون في المراكز الحضرية، وبلغ معدل البطالة على المستوى الوطني 31.8 في المائة بين الشباب بين 15 و 24 سنة، مقابل 13.7 في المائة للفئة العمرية الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 25 و 44 عامًا، و 3.8 في المائة للأشخاص الذين تبلغ أعمارهم 45 عامًا أو أكثر. وفقًا لمستوى الشهادة، يبلغ معدل البطالة بين الشباب الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 15 و 24 عامًا الحاصلين على درجة عالية المستوى 61.2 في المائة.
* انطلق الأسبوع الثاني من مشروع "نوادي البحث عن عمل" في مركز شباب العاصمة في الأردن، بحضور 45 شاب وشابة. ويتم تنفيذ المشروع من قبل مركز تطوير الأعمال، وذلك بالتعاون مع وزارة الشباب ومؤسسة بلومونت في مخيم الزعتري للاجئين وكذلك منظمة العمل الدولية وصندوق الأمم المتحدة للطفولة (اليونيسف). ويهدف المشروع إلى تنشيط وإشراك الشباب في أنشطة البحث عن عمل لتمكينهم من إيجاد الوظائف المناسبة، بالإضافة إلى تلقي دورة تدريبية مكثفة حول المهارات المتعلقة بالبحث عن عمل والوصول إلى سوق العمل الخفي.
* نفذ مركز شباب الطرة في الأردن ورشة عمل حول تمويل المشاريع الصغيرة، حيث تم تعليم المشاركين الشباب حول كيفية بناء المشاريع وما هي الشروط التي يجب وضعها في بداية كل مشروع. كما تعرف الحضور على أسباب النجاح في المشاريع وأهمية التخطيط والتنظيم والعمل الإداري الناجح.
Conflict
* Several confrontations erupted between young Palestinians and the Israeli occupation forces, which resulted in injuries among citizens in various West Bank cities. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that 6 civilians were wounded by live bullets by the occupation forces, including two seriously injured. Meanwhile, 9 young men were injured, during confrontations with the occupation forces at the northern entrance to Al-Bireh, following the suppression of a march condemning the assassination of three martyrs in Nablus. The Red Crescent stated that a young man was wounded by live bullets, while another was wounded by rubber-coated metal bullets, in addition to the injury of seven others from suffocation, as a result of inhaling tear gas.
* The Palestinian Shabab FM radio came under fire during clashes with the Israeli occupation forces in Nablus. The director of Shabab FM radio said that violent confrontations took place during the Israeli occupation forces' storming of the Old City in Nablus, as fire exchanged between the occupation forces and the resistance fighters, and in the meantime, the station came under random fire. Local sources reported that the station stopped broadcasting live after its studios came under fire during the clashes that took place in Nablus.
* The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics said that young people between aged 18 to 29, who constitute more than one-fifth of Palestinian society, are the most exposed to Israeli violations. In a report on the occasion of the International Youth Day, the Bureau indicated Palestinian youth are the most vulnerable to Israeli violations, and that the recent Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip resulted in 47 deaths, 34 percent of whom were youth aged 18 to 29.

* اندلعت عدة مواجهات بين الشبان الفلسطينيين وقوات الاحتلال، أسفرت عن إصابة مواطنين في مدن متفرقة بالضفة الغربية. وأفادت وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية عن إصابة 6 مواطنين بالأعيرة النارية من قبل قوات الاحتلال، بينهم اثنان بجروح خطيرة. وعلى صعيد متصل، أصيب 9 شبان، خلال مواجهات مع قوات الاحتلال على المدخل الشمالي لمدينة البيرة، عقب قمع مسيرة تنديد باغتيال ثلاثة شهداء في نابلس. وأفاد الهلال الأحمر، بإصابة شاب بالرصاص الحي، فيما أصيب آخر بالأعيرة المعدنية المغلفة بالمطاط، إضافة إلى إصابة سبعة آخرين باختناق جراء استنشاقهم الغاز المسيل للدموع.
* تعرضت إذاعة شباب اف ام الفلسطينية لنيران عشوائية خلال مواجهات مع قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي في مدينة نابلس. وقال مدير إذاعة شباب إف إم، إن مواجهات عنيفة وقعت أثناء اقتحام قوات الاحتلال للمدينة القديمة في مدينة نابلس، حيث تم تبادل إطلاق النار بين قوات الاحتلال والمقاومين، وتعرضت المحطة في هذه الأثناء لإطلاق نار عشوائي. وأفادت مصادر محلية أن المحطة توقفت عن البث الحي بعد تعرض استوديوهاتها لإطلاق النار خلال الاشتباكات التي وقعت في نابلس.
* قال الجهاز المركزي للإحصاء الفلسطيني، إن الشباب الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 18 و29 عامًا، والذين يشكلون أكثر من خُمس المجتمع الفلسطيني، هم الأكثر تعرضًا للانتهاكات الإسرائيلية. وأشار المكتب في تقرير بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للشباب، إلى أن الشباب الفلسطيني هم الأكثر عرضة للانتهاكات الإسرائيلية، وأن الهجوم الإسرائيلي الأخير على قطاع غزة أدى إلى مقتل 47 شخصًا، 34٪ منهم من الشباب الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 18 و29 عامًا.
Development
* The “Nahnu” national platform for youth volunteering and participation launched the "Youth Forum" activities in the Central Region of Jordan in celebration of International Youth Day. The forum aims to exchange experiences between young men and women and encourage them to actively participate and involve them in the process of bringing about positive change in their societies. The forum included introductory sessions on the platform and the Crown Prince Foundation along with a presentation of success stories from the governorates, in addition to a competition for youth-led voluntary ideas.

* أطلقت المنصة الوطنية "نحن" للتطوع والمشاركة الشبابية التابعة لمؤسسة ولي العهد الأردنية، أطلقت فعاليات "منتدى الشباب" في إقليم الوسط من الأردن احتفالاً بيوم الشباب العالمي. ويهدف المنتدى إلى تبادل الخبرات بين الشباب والشابات وتشجيعهم على المشاركة الفعالة وإشراكهم في عملية إحداث التغيير الإيجابي في مجتمعاتهم. وتضمن المنتدى جلسات تعريفية بالمنصة ومؤسسة ولي العهد إلى جانب عرض لقصص النجاح من المحافظات، بالإضافة إلى مسابقة للأفكار التطوعية التي يقودها الشباب.
Education
* The We Are All Jordan Youth Commission implemented about 400 courses to empower 10,000 young men and women in the field of foreign languages. The idea of holding training courses and empowering young people in foreign languages, especially English, is driven by the fact that local and foreign labor markets require foreign languages as one of the main elements in obtaining jobs, including English, Chinese, French and German.

* نفذت هيئة شباب كلنا الأردن حوالي 400 دورة لتمكين 10000 شاب وشابة في مجال اللغات الأجنبية. وتأتي فكرة عقد دورات تدريبية وتمكين الشباب في اللغات الأجنبية، وخاصة اللغة الإنجليزية، بسبب دراسات تبين أن أسواق العمل المحلية والأجنبية تتطلب لغات أجنبية كأحد العناصر الرئيسية في الحصول على الوظائف، بما في ذلك الإنجليزية والصينية والفرنسية والألمانية.
Environment
* The Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports said that 1,500 young men and women from different countries will participate in the Youth Climate Conference (COI 17), which will be held on the sidelines of the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP27), to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh next November. The Minister confirmed that COI 17 is a new opportunity for the world’s youth to meet and discuss the importance of young people when it comes to climate action.
* The UM6P’s Green Universities for Sustainability (GUS) club is organizing the first edition of the 2022 Local Conference of Young Morocco (LCOY), an event that brings together young climate change activists. The event, which is taking place between August 12 and 14 at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University Faculty of Governance, Economics, and Social Sciences, seeks to empower youth and build their capacity for climate action. According to the event’s organizers, LCOY Morocco aims “to fight for a cause we all share”: climate change, as well as contribute to “the awakening of the global commitment” to combat this prevailing issue.

* قال وزير الشباب والرياضة المصري إن 1500 شاب وشابة من مختلف الدول سيشاركون في مؤتمر الشباب للمناخ (COI 17) الذي سيعقد على هامش مؤتمر الأطراف حول تغير المناخ (COP27)، والذي سيعقد في شرم الشيخ في تشرين الثاني / نوفمبر المقبل. وأكد الوزير أن مؤتمر الشباب للمناخ هو فرصة جديدة لشباب العالم للقاء ومناقشة أهمية الشباب عندما يتعلق الأمر بالعمل المناخي.
* ينظم نادي الجامعات الخضراء من أجل الاستدامة النسخة الأولى من المؤتمر المحلي للشباب المغربي لعام 2022، وهو حدث يجمع الناشطين الشباب في مجال تغير المناخ. ويسعى الحدث، والذي يقام بين 12 و14 آب / أغسطس الجاري في كلية الحوكمة والاقتصاد والعلوم الاجتماعية بجامعة الملك محمد السادس، إلى تمكين الشباب وبناء قدراتهم للعمل المناخي. ووفقًا لمنظمي الحدث، يهدف المؤتمر إلى "النضال من أجل قضية نتشاركها جميعًا": وهي تغير المناخ، فضلاً عن المساهمة في "إيقاظ الالتزام العالمي" لمكافحة هذه القضية السائدة.
