* Sharm El Sheikh Sunday hosted a panel discussion titled “The importance of climate action”, which was held as part of the second day of the Saudi Green Initiative Forum, organized on the sidelines of COP27. The session covered the importance of increasing mobility to decarbonize the region, the role of finance in enhancing climate action, and the necessity of joint regional and international cooperation to address the challenge of climate change. Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman said: "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia adopts a balanced approach to addressing climate change." * Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received in Sharm El Sheikh Thursday, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and her accompanying delegation, on sidelines of COP27. “At COP27, as the world stands ‘Together For Implementation,’ our distinguished and experienced delegation will engage in meetings with our partners — as well as civil society, youth and business leaders — to discuss the work that must be done to continue our progress to advance climate action and protect the planet,” Pelosi said in a statement.

* Ahmed Abu Ali, an economic researcher, praised the success of the climate summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, stressing that the size of the equipment made on the land of Sharm el-Sheikh was more than wonderful, and conference tourism must be promoted, commenting that the Egyptian youth had a prominent role in the success of the climate summit.

* Nearly half of young people in the Middle East and North Africa have reconsidered having children because of climate change, according to the United Nations’ children’s agency. According to a global poll conducted on behalf of UNICEF, 44 percent of youth in the region say the impacts of climate change have made them think twice about starting a family. In the Middle East and North Africa, 31 percent of respondents said they had less food to eat because of climate change, and 34 percent said their family’s income source had been hit. Meanwhile, 35 percent of youth in the region said they were finding it increasingly difficult to access clean water, and 70 percent said they have considered moving to another country or city because of the effects of climate change.

* Princess Noura bint Turki Al Saud, co-founder of the ION Collective platform, called on young people to overcome the “disappointments of the present” and draw inspiration from the “Green Saudi Arabia” initiative. Princess Noura said, during the session “What do young people want from companies?”, on the second day of the “Green Saudi Initiative” forum, that during her various visits to countries of the world, she felt a sense of frustration and fear about the future among young people, and these feelings are justified because of what they suffer. Sarah Al-Ghamdi, a graduate of the Mawhiba Foundation, drew attention to the importance of young people being supportive of the environment by choosing products that take into account environmental goals, but this requires companies to have more transparency that helps in decision-making.
