Politics and Political Engagement
* Several Tunisian civil organizations criticized the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) for the severe censorship it is imposing on independent media organizations. The organizations criticized “the ISIE's lack of interest regarding the integrity and transparency of the electoral process and the provision of a proper electoral atmosphere based on freedom. Instead, it devoted all its efforts to tracking people's opinions, trying to impose censorship, prosecuting opinion-makers and threatening candidates, media and organizations.” They called on all various civil and human rights groups and youth movements to “reject these backward practices, which represent an outdated exclusionary mentality, and to mobilize to fight it.”
* The “Youth of the Neighborhoods of Tehran” group called on citizens in to participate in the Great Market of Tehran March last Saturday to support the sellers and shop owners, who announced that they would demonstrate after the great collapse of the Iranian currency and the recession of the market.
* In Jordan, Irada Party (under establishment) met with a number of young men and women from Zarqa, who enacted volunteer initiatives that contributed to the advancement of the local community in several sectors. It was reported that the event ran for three hours and featured a number of questions from the attendees, resulting in many joining the party, ahead of its anticipated founding conference.

* انتقدت عدة منظمات مدنية تونسية الهيئة العليا المستقلة للانتخابات للرقابة الشديدة التي تفرضها على المؤسسات الإعلامية المستقلة. وانتقدت المنظمات "عدم اهتمام الهيئة العليا المستقلة للانتخابات بنزاهة وشفافية العملية الانتخابية وتوفير مناخ انتخابي مناسب قائم على الحرية. وبدلاً من ذلك، كرست كل جهودها لتتبع آراء الناس، ومحاولة فرض الرقابة، ومقاضاة أصحاب الرأي وتهديد المرشحين ووسائل الإعلام والمنظمات". ودعوا جميع الجماعات المدنية وحقوق الإنسان والحركات الشبابية إلى "رفض هذه الممارسات المتخلفة، التي تمثل عقلية إقصائية عفا عليها الزمن، والتعبئة لمكافحتها".

* في الأردن، التقى حزب الإرادة السياسي (تحت التأسيس) بعدد من الشباب والشابات من محافظة الزرقاء، والذين سبق وأن نفذوا مبادرات تطوعية ساهمت في النهوض بالمجتمع المحلي في عدة قطاعات. ويذكر أن الحفل استمر لمدة ثلاث ساعات وشمل عددا من الأسئلة من الحضور، وانتهى بانضمام الكثير من الحضور للحزب، وذلك قبل المؤتمر التأسيسي المرتقب.
Economics and Entrepreneurship
* The National Telecommunication Institute revealed that it will be organizing a new session of the “Egypt Digital Youth Evening Initiative”, which aims to build the capacities of youth in the field of communications and information technology. The course is organized during the month of February in several tracks, including networks, security, virtualization, embedded systems and the Internet of things, information technology, and career development. Participants can receive training on Fridays and Saturdays for six hours per day, or choose evening appointments three days per week, for four hours per day. The deadline for registration is January 15, 2023.
* The Tabuk Youth Council concluded a number of training workshops under the “Deem Tabuk” initiative, implemented in cooperation with the Social Development Bank. The workshops focused on training youth on conducting economic feasibility study, e-marketing, branding, and enriching the entrepreneurial spirit of young men and women to launch their projects.
* Despite a global slowdown in venture capital deal-making, Iraq’s start-up scene can boast a number of successful deals in 2022. As security improves and as Iraqi youth continue to innovate, there is growing interest in the market. Iraqi start-ups raised a total of $16 million from six deals in 2022 compared to $7 million from seven deals in 2021, according to Magnitt, a Dubai-based data platform on MENA start-ups.

* كشف المعهد القومي للاتصالات عن أنه ينظم دورة جديدة من "مبادرة أمسية شباب مصر الرقمية" التي تهدف إلى بناء قدرات الشباب في مجال الاتصالات وتكنولوجيا المعلومات. ويتم تنظيم الدورة خلال شهر شباط / فبراير في عدة مسارات، بما في ذلك الشبكات، والأمن، والمحاكاة الافتراضية، والأنظمة المدمجة وإنترنت الأشياء، وتكنولوجيا المعلومات، والتطوير الوظيفي. ويمكن للمشاركين الحصول على تدريب يومي الجمعة والسبت لمدة ست ساعات في اليوم، أو اختيار مواعيد مسائية ثلاثة أيام في الأسبوع، لمدة أربع ساعات في اليوم. والجدير بالذكر أنه آخر موعد للتسجيل هو 15 كانون الثاني / يناير 2023.
* اختتم مجلس شباب تبوك عددا من ورش العمل التدريبية في إطار مبادرة ديم تبوك بالتعاون مع بنك التنمية الاجتماعية. وركزت ورش العمل على تدريب الشباب على إجراء دراسة الجدوى الاقتصادية، والتسويق الإلكتروني، والعلامات التجارية، وإثراء روح المبادرة لدى الشباب والشابات لإطلاق مشاريعهم.

Conflict
* The Israeli occupation forces arrested more than 20 Palestinians in separate parts of the West Bank after several raids of civilian homes in multiple towns and cities. The occupation forces transferred all detainees to detention centers for interrogation in cases related to resistance to the occupation.
* A report by Palestinian human rights organizations revealed that the Israeli occupation forces arrested 7,000 Palestinians, including 882 children and 172 women, from the governorates of the West Bank and Gaza during 2022. The number of Palestinian detainees by the Israeli occupation forces is higher than 2021.
* Although there is no official statistics on the number of immigrants from Gaza, it is estimated that more than 200,000 people, most of whom are youth, who emigrated permanently or temporarily since 2007. According to the Masarat Center for Human Rights, 36,000 people have left Gaza in the past five years. It is worth noting that 80% of young people who graduate from universities in Gaza are unemployed, as Israel has imposed a tight land, sea and air blockade on the Gaza Strip since 2007.
* The Youth of Anger in Wadi Hadhramout, in Yemen, reiterated their demands for the implementation of the military component of the Riyadh Agreement, with the aim of disarming the first military region, which is controlled by the Brotherhood, from Wadi Hadramout. A statement issued by the group said that the liberation of Wadi Hadramout is a popular demand and pledged to continue the popular uprising and peaceful popular escalation until the liberation of the first military zone.

* اعتقلت قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي أكثر من 20 فلسطينيا في مناطق متفرقة من الضفة الغربية بعد عدة مداهمات لمنازل المدنيين في عدة بلدات ومدن. ونقلت قوات الاحتلال جميع المعتقلين إلى معتقلات للتحقيق معهم في قضايا تتعلق بمقاومة الاحتلال.
* كشف تقرير لمنظمات حقوقية فلسطينية، أن قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي اعتقلت 7000 فلسطيني، بينهم 882 طفلاً، و 172 امرأة، من محافظات الضفة الغربية المختلفة ومن غزة خلال عام 2022. ويعد عدد المعتقلين الفلسطينيين لدى قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي خلال العام المنصرم أعلى من عام 2021.
* على الرغم من عدم وجود إحصائيات رسمية حول عدد المهاجرين من غزة، إلا أنه يقدر أن أكثر من 200000 شخص، معظمهم من الشباب، قد هاجروا بشكل دائم أو مؤقت منذ عام 2007. ووفقًا لمركز مسارات لحقوق الإنسان، فقد هاجر نحو 36000 شخص خارج غزة في السنوات الخمس الماضية. ويذكر أن 80٪ من الشباب الذين تخرجوا من جامعات غزة عاطلون عن العمل، حيث تفرض إسرائيل حصارًا بريًا وبحريًا وجويًا مشددًا على قطاع غزة منذ عام 2007.

Development
* Youth of the Jordanian volunteer platform “Nahno” have been proving with their efforts and determination that giving is not only an act of good, but also a sustainable work and an indication of true citizenship, based on giving and solidarity with all members of society. Because investing in youth is the most profitable investment, the efforts of the Nahno platform focused on encouraging young people to seek volunteer work to leave a positive change in their societies, as their participation is considered an essential element in supporting comprehensive and sustainable development programs. Nahno has attracted more than 106,000 volunteers, who have achieved more than 2.9 million volunteer hours since the launch of the platform. The volunteer opportunities offered by the platform varied to include distance education support services, implementation of awareness campaigns, development of programs and applications for smart phones, and educational workshops for disease prevention, in addition to providing various forms of support to institutions such as producing and filmmaking.
* The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports in Sharkia organized a training course on crisis and disaster management, attended by 30 young men and women. The workshop focused on procedures that must be followed to deal with crises, raise community awareness, and encourage a culture of volunteer work in the field of disaster risk reduction.

* أثبت شباب برنامج التطوع الأردني "نحن" بجهودهم وتصميمهم أن العطاء ليس عمل خير فحسب، بل عمل مستدام ومؤشر على المواطنة الحقيقية، على أساس العطاء والتضامن مع جميع أفراد المجتمع. ولأن الاستثمار في الشباب هو الاستثمار الأكثر ربحية، فقد ركزت جهود منصة "نحن" على تشجيع الشباب على السعي للعمل التطوعي لترك تغيير إيجابي في مجتمعاتهم، حيث تعتبر مشاركتهم عنصرًا أساسيًا في دعم برامج التنمية الشاملة والمستدامة. واجتذبت "نحن" أكثر من 106000 متطوع، قضوا أكثر من 2.9 مليون ساعة تطوعية منذ إطلاق المنصة. وتنوعت الفرص التطوعية التي توفرها المنصة لتشمل خدمات دعم التعليم عن بعد، ودعم تنفيذ حملات توعية، وتطوير برامج وتطبيقات للهواتف الذكية، وورش عمل تثقيفية للوقاية من الأمراض، بالإضافة إلى تقديم أشكال مختلفة من الدعم للمؤسسات مثل إنتاج وصناعة الأفلام.
* نظمت وزارة الشباب والرياضة المصرية بمحافظة الشرقية دورة تدريبية حول إدارة الأزمات والكوارث، حضرها 30 شاب وشابة. وركزت الورشة على الإجراءات التي يجب اتباعها للتعامل مع الأزمات، ورفع الوعي المجتمعي، وتشجيع ثقافة العمل التطوعي في مجال الحد من مخاطر الكوارث.
Education
* The Jordanian National Company for Employment and Training and the Aqaba Governorate Council signed cooperation agreement with the goal of addressing the needs of the Jordanian labor market, by training young people in various craft professions, in line with the national strategy for human resources development. It also looks to enhance the capacities of youth to contribute to the development of the local community.

* وقعت الشركة الوطنية الأردنية للتشغيل والتدريب اتفاقية تعاون مع مجلس محافظة العقبة وذلك بهدف تلبية احتياجات سوق العمل الأردني، من خلال تدريب الشباب في مختلف المهن الحرفية، بشكل يتماشى مع الاستراتيجية الوطنية لتنمية الموارد البشرية. كما تتطلع هذه الاتفاقية إلى تعزيز قدرات الشباب الأردني نحو المساهمة في تنمية المجتمع المحلي.

Politics and Political Engagement
* The Tunisian National Youth Movement, which supports Tunisian President Kais Saied, announced that it won first place in the first round of the parliamentary elections held on December 17, winning 10 seats in Parliament. The elections were boycotted by the opposition witnessed a low voter turnout rate (11.22%), which is the lowest since the beginning of the democratic transition in the country in 2011. It is worth noting that voting is on the basis of individuals rather than lists, which greatly weakened the presence of political parties.
* Shahid Ali Khani Square in Isfahan, Iran, turned into a hub for supporters of the prominent Iranian soccer player, Amir Nasr Azadani, who fear that the young man will be executed in the field, as a stand has been installed in preparation for that. Iranian families worry that a wave of executions in the country is imminent in the wake of the recent protests. Activist group 1500Tasvir indicates that at least 43 people, including Nasr Azadani, may face imminent execution. State media quoted the city's chief justice, Assadullah Jafari, as saying that Nasr Azadani was accused of rioting against the authorities. Under Iran's penal code, the sentence is punishable by death. Previous CNN investigations found that prisoners were tortured and sexually assaulted. Human rights groups say torture-tainted "confessions" were used against defendants in show trials. Five Iranians are facing execution, including the karate champion of Kurdish origins, Muhammad Mahdi Karami, 21, whose parents appeared in a video clip begging the authorities to refrain from executing him.

* أعلنت "حركة شباب تونس الوطني"، الداعمة للرئيس التونسي قيس سعيد، فوزها بالمركز الأول في الجولة الأولى من الانتخابات النيابية التي أجريت في 17 كانون أول / ديسمبر، وفازت بـ 10 مقاعد في البرلمان. وقوطعت الانتخابات من قبل المعارضة وشهدت نسبة إقبال منخفضة (11.22٪) وهي الأدنى منذ بداية التحول الديمقراطي في البلاد عام 2011. وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن التصويت كان هذه المرة على أساس الأفراد وليس القوائم، الأمر الذي أضعف بشكل كبير وجود الأحزاب السياسية.

* Alquds published a report discussing the ongoing economic issue in Jordan, which has intensified in recent years, following the Russian-Ukrainian war and the COVID-19 pandemic. The report suggests that one of the main difficulties that worry the population, especially the youth, is the absence of jobs in the labor market and low salaries. A Jordanian journalist stated “a young man who finishes university can earn 200-300 dinars a month if he works overtime. This is not enough for expenses and for living. With the absence of vacancies and low salaries, emigration has become the destination of young people, because they do not see a future.” Official unemployment rates range between 17 and 25 percent, but according to other estimates, the number of unemployed is higher. “Even those who work find it difficult to stay in the workplace over time, and they have no stability. Employers take advantage of people’s attachment to work as a source of livelihood, and allow themselves to treat workers inhumanely at times,” explains the journalist.
* The Central Administration for Youth Empowerment, in cooperation with the Directorate of Youth and Sports in Gharbia, Egypt, organized a craft training workshop. The workshop looked to encourage youth to seek vocational training and to prepare them for the labor market needs. It also looked to spread the culture of self-employment and to train young people in craft professions that qualify them to enter the labor market.

* نظمت الإدارة المركزية لتمكين الشباب بالتعاون مع مديرية الشباب والرياضة في الغربية في مصر ورشة عمل للتدريب الحرفي. وتهدف ورشة العمل هذه إلى تشجيع الشباب على البحث عن التدريب المهني وإعدادهم لاحتياجات سوق العمل. كما سعت إلى نشر ثقافة العمل الحر وتدريب الشباب على المهن الحرفية التي تؤهلهم لدخول سوق العمل.
Conflict
* A Palestinian who was shot and critically injured by Israeli forces during a recent confrontation in the occupied West Bank has died of his wounds. The 23-year-old from the Jenin refugee camp was pronounced dead at Ramallah hospital. Dozens of Palestinians have been killed over the course of 2022 in attacks by Israeli forces in and around Jenin. In the occupied West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip, Israel has killed nearly 200 Palestinians, including 43 children, in the same period. The United Nations says the regime has killed the highest number of Palestinians in the West Bank in 16 years.
* Irregular migratory boats from Morocco to the Canary Islands continue to record a number of deaths. The rate of the flow of migrants from southern Morocco to the Canary Islands decreased during 2022, due to increased surveillance by the authorities. However, the trip remains one of the bloodiest, as between 53 and 56 people who were sailing on a rubber boat disappeared or drowned. It is noteworthy that the security investigations of 2022 in combating networks organizing illegal immigration revealed the arrest of 32,733 individuals, among them, 28,146 were of different foreign nationalities, 92 criminal networks were dismantled, and 566 organizers and mediators were arrested, an increase of more than 36% compared to the previous year.
* “Paula Hamra”, “Al-Kala”, “Flitoxa” and “Shakelita”… are names among others for several types of drugs that many Moroccan youth are addicted to, but the drug “Bufa” remains the most dangerous of these, raising fears among civil associations active in the fight against drugs. Moroccans call "Bufa" the "drug of the poor" or "the cocaine of the poor" in view of its cheapness compared to cocaine, but its risks and repercussions on the health of its consumers make it the subject of many warnings. Ayman, a young man in his twenties, a former Bufa addict, says that this drug has become widespread among unemployed youth and even educated students.

* توفي فلسطيني أصيب برصاص القوات الإسرائيلية خلال المواجهات الأخيرة في الضفة الغربية المحتلة متأثرا بجراحه. وتم الإعلان عن وفاة الشاب البالغ من العمر 23 عاما من مخيم جنين في مستشفى رام الله. والجدير بالذكر أن قوات الاحتلال كانت قد قتلت العشرات من الفلسطينيين على مدار عام 2022 في هجمات مختلفة شنتها قوات الاحتلال في جنين ومحيطها. وفي الضفة الغربية المحتلة وقطاع غزة المحاصر قتلت إسرائيل ما يقرب من 200 فلسطيني، بينهم 43 طفلا، في نفس الفترة. وتقول الأمم المتحدة إن الاحتلال قتل أكبر عدد من الفلسطينيين في الضفة الغربية منذ 16 عاما.

* "بولا حمرا" و "الكالة" و "فليطوكسا" و "شكيليطة".. هي أسماء من بين أسماء عدة أنواع من المخدرات التي يدمنها العديد من الشباب المغربي، لكن عقار "بوفا" يظل أخطر هذه الأنواع، مما يثير مخاوف الجمعيات الأهلية الناشطة في مكافحة المخدرات. ويطلق المغاربة على هذا العقار "مخدر الفقراء" أو "كوكايين الفقراء" وذلك بسبب رخص ثمنه مقارنة بالكوكايين، لكن مخاطره وانعكاساته على صحة مستهلكيها تجعله موضع تحذيرات كثيرة. أيمن هو شاب في العشرينات من عمره، مدمن سابق على البوفا، يقول إن هذا المخدر أصبح منتشرًا بين الشباب العاطلين عن العمل وحتى الطلاب المتعلمين.
Development
* The first phase of the peer education project and community awareness of the scourge of drugs, dangerous behaviors, and healthy lifestyles concluded in Jordan last week. Implemented by the We Are All Jordan Youth in partnership with the Arab Society for Awareness of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. In the first phase, the project targeted about 400 young men and women aged 20-30, from various governorates, who underwent a total of 18 training hours, focusing on the needed skills to safely use social media in raising awareness. The trainings also looked to build skills related to influencing peers and facing pressures and tensions and dangerous behavior to essentially encourage affected individuals to seek treatment.
* The German Ambassador to Libya expressed his admiration for the non-governmental European work in training Libyan youth. He said in a tweet that “It is great to see the non-governmental organization Supernovae working to empower Libyan youth economically through training and job opportunities.” He added that his country is proud of its support for the organization through European Union funding, stressing that “youth are the key to the future in Libya.”

* اختتمت المرحلة الأولى من مشروع تثقيف الأقران والتوعية المجتمعية بآفة المخدرات والسلوكيات الخطرة وأنماط الحياة الصحية في الأردن الأسبوع الماضي. نفذت المرحلة الأولى من المشروع هيئة شباب كلنا الأردن بالشراكة مع الجمعية العربية للتوعية بالعقاقير والمخدرات الخطرة. ففي المرحلة الأولى، استهدف المشروع حوالي 400 شاب وشابة تتراوح أعمارهم بين 20-30، من مختلف المحافظات، خضعوا لما مجموعه 18 ساعة تدريبية، مع التركيز على المهارات اللازمة لاستخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي بأمان في زيادة الوعي. وسعت التدريبات أيضًا إلى بناء المهارات المتعلقة بالتأثير على الأقران ومواجهة الضغوط والتوترات والسلوك الخطير لتشجيع الأفراد المتضررين بشكل أساسي على طلب العلاج.

Education
* The decision of the Taliban group to prevent girls in Afghanistan from university education was met with international, political and popular rejection. Young people in Iraq and in Tunisia condemned this decision and demonstrated their support for Afghani women in the face of the oppressive regime. A number of students in Iraq and in Tunisia criticized the decision, stressing that it does not only target education, but it also targets the role of Afghan women in general. It is an attempt to marginalize the role of women and ignore society. The students emphasized the necessity of continuing the protests, strikes, and demands to reverse this unjust decision.

* قوبل قرار جماعة طالبان بمنع الفتيات في أفغانستان من التعليم الجامعي برفض دولي وسياسي وشعبي. واستنكر الشباب في العراق وتونس هذا القرار وأبدوا دعمهم للمرأة الأفغانية في مواجهة النظام القمعي. وانتقد عدد من الطلاب في العراق وتونس هذا القرار القمعي، مؤكدين أنه لا يستهدف التعليم فقط، بل يستهدف دور المرأة الأفغانية بشكل عام. وهي محاولة لتهميش دور المرأة وتجاهل المجتمع. وشدد الشباب العراقي والتونسي على ضرورة استمرار الاحتجاجات والإضرابات والمطالبات بالتراجع عن هذا القرار الجائر.
Environment
* The community police in the Mafraq Governorate Police Department, in Jordan, organized a youth awareness workshop to raise awareness of the implications of electronic waste on the environment. The session also discussed cybercrimes and safe internet use.
* The Sahel Selim Youth Center in Egypt organized a workshop on the recycling of raw materials, attended by of 15 members of the center. The workshop included training young girls on how to recycle and benefit from the waste of the surrounding environment, which contribute to reducing waste, protecting the environment, preserving natural resources, and supporting the national economy.

* نظمت الشرطة المجتمعية في مديرية شرطة محافظة المفرق بالأردن ورشة عمل توعوية للشباب للتوعية بآثار النفايات الإلكترونية على البيئة. كما ناقشت الجلسة الجرائم الإلكترونية والاستخدام الآمن للإنترنت.
* نظم مركز شباب ساحل سليم في مصر ورشة عمل حول إعادة تدوير المواد الخام، حضرها 15 فتاة من أعضاء المركز. وتضمنت الورشة تدريب الفتيات على كيفية إعادة التدوير والاستفادة من مخلفات البيئة المحيطة مما يساهم في تقليل النفايات بالإضافة إلى حماية البيئة والمحافظة على الموارد الطبيعية ودعم الاقتصاد الوطني.

Politics and Political Engagement
* The Iranian regime was not content with simply suppressing the demonstrations that take place in many Iranian cities following the killing of the Kurdish girl, Mahsa Amini, at the hands of the morality police. Since the start of those protests, it has resorted to arresting many young people participating in the demonstrations and subjecting them to psychological torture that push youth toward suicide. Researchers explained that Iranian youth resorted to suicide because of the psychological pressures they were subjected to in Iranian prisons after their arrest, where the police and the Basij practiced various types of psychological and physical torture against the detainees, which puts them in situations that make them forced to resort to suicide to escape bad psychological pressures.
* A group of youth from the neighborhoods of Karaj, in northern Iran, called for holding the 40th anniversary of Mehdi Hazrati, one of the children who were killed during the protests, December 15, at 10:00 am, in the "Bhesht Ali" cemetery in this city.
* Tunisia held its parliamentary elections on Saturday, but in the coastal city of Zarzis, this election does not attract the attention of young men. All they are waiting for is an opportunity to risk their lives on a smugglers' boat heading to the European coast. More than ten years after the outbreak of the Tunisian revolution that set off what became known as the Arab Spring, poverty levels are increasing, the economy is on the verge of collapse, and the country's political system is facing an acute crisis. The new parliament, which Tunisians voted for on Saturday, is expected to have no significant impact and will be without claws in light of the new constitution drafted by President Kais Saied himself during the current year, which centralized power in his hands.
* A member of the Civil Democratic Party (under establishment) indicated that Jordan needs more civil parties with programs that can better cope with challenges and changes facing youth. The member added that political parties need to educate young people on the idea of parties and elections on a programmatic democratic basis, especially since the future belongs to the current generations. He noted that parties are not only responsible for political life, but rather provide solutions to problems on the national scene, such as education, health, and public sector development.
* The Kafr Al-Salahat Youth Center, in Egypt, held a symposium titled “the Role of Youth in Political Participation”, attended by a number of young male and female members of the General Assembly of the Kafr Al-Salahat Youth Center. The lecture discussed the importance of youth political participation, noting that youth are a vital and effective element in society that has the ability to influence various aspects of cultural, social, economic and political life. It concluded that youth participation in political life is important to help young people and enable them to improve their living conditions and enhance their political presence.

* لم يكتف النظام الإيراني بقمع التظاهرات التي تشهدها العديد من المدن الإيرانية عقب مقتل الفتاة الكردية مهسا أميني على يد شرطة الآداب. ومنذ بدء تلك الاحتجاجات، لجأ النظام الإيراني إلى اعتقال العديد من الشباب المشاركين في التظاهرات وتعريضهم للتعذيب النفسي الذي يدفع الشباب نحو الانتحار. وأوضح باحثون أن الشباب الإيراني يلجأ إلى الانتحار بسبب الضغوط النفسية التي تعرضوا لها في السجون الإيرانية بعد اعتقالهم، حيث مارست الشرطة والباسيج أنواعًا مختلفة من التعذيب النفسي والجسدي ضد المعتقلين، مما يضعهم في مواقف تجبرهم نحو اللجوء إلى الانتحار هربًا من الضغوط النفسية السيئة.
* دعت مجموعة من شباب أحياء كرج شمال إيران، إلى إحياء الذكرى الأربعين لمهدي حضراتي أحد الأطفال الذين استشهدوا خلال احتجاجات 15 كانون الأول / ديسمبر الساعة 10:00 صباحًا في مقبرة "بهشت علي" في هذه المدينة.
* أجرت تونس انتخاباتها البرلمانية يوم السبت، ولكن في مدينة جرجيس الساحلية لم تستقطب هذه الانتخابات انتباه الشباب. فكل ما ينتظرهم هو فرصة للمخاطرة بحياتهم على متن قارب مهربين متجهين إلى الساحل الأوروبي. وبعد أكثر من عشر سنوات على اندلاع الثورة التونسية التي أطلقت ما أصبح يعرف بالربيع العربي، تتزايد مستويات الفقر، والاقتصاد على وشك الانهيار، والنظام السياسي في البلاد يواجه أزمة حادة. ومن المتوقع ألا يكون للبرلمان الجديد، الذي صوت التونسيون لصالحه يوم السبت، أي تأثير كبير وسيكون بلا مخالب في ضوء الدستور الجديد الذي صاغه الرئيس قيس سعيد بنفسه خلال العام الجاري، والذي جعل السلطة بين يديه.
* أشار عضو في الحزب المدني الديمقراطي (تحت التأسيس) إلى أن الأردن بحاجة إلى المزيد من الأحزاب المدنية ذات البرامج التي يمكنها التعامل بشكل أفضل مع التحديات والتغييرات التي تواجه الشباب. وأضاف العضو أن الأحزاب السياسية بحاجة إلى توعية الشباب بفكرة الأحزاب والانتخابات على أساس ديمقراطي برنامجي، خاصة وأن المستقبل هو ملك للأجيال الحالية. وأشار إلى أن الأحزاب ليست مسؤولة فقط عن الحياة السياسية، بل أنها أيضا تقدم حلولاً لمشاكل على الساحة الوطنية، كالتعليم والصحة وتطوير القطاع العام.
* أقام مركز شباب كفر الصلاحات في مصر ندوة بعنوان "دور الشباب في المشاركة السياسية" حضرها عدد من أعضاء الجمعية العمومية لمركز شباب كفر الصلاحات شبابا ونساء. وناقشت المحاضرة أهمية المشاركة السياسية للشباب، مشيرة إلى أن الشباب عنصر حيوي وفعال في المجتمع، كما أنه يمتلك القدرة على التأثير في مختلف جوانب الحياة الثقافية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية والسياسية. وخلصت إلى أن مشاركة الشباب في الحياة السياسية مهمة لمساعدة الشباب وتمكينهم من تحسين ظروفهم المعيشية وتعزيز حضورهم السياسي.
Economics and Entrepreneurship
* Turkey's unemployment rate edged up to 10.2% in October, posing a potential challenge to President Tayyip Erdogan's re-election hopes. Youth unemployment climbed nearly two points to just below 22%, a potential concern given that there will be six million first-time voters next year and with a big majority of young Turks saying they want change. Turkish officials and analysts said jobs and GDP posed election wildcards for the president, whose pro-growth political reputation has been bruised in recent years as inflation soared and the lira cratered to historic lows.
* Al-Monitor revealed an unprecedented increase in the number of Iraqi Arabs residing in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and the impact they have had on the social, economic, and political system within the region. The report indicated that "despite the Kurdish authorities' refusal to disclose the numbers of Arabs currently residing within the region, their numbers are now estimated at "hundreds of thousands." Former Minister of Minority Affairs in the Kurdistan government, Muhammad Ihsan, said that the money that the Arabs brought and invested in the real estate and business market "saved Kurdistan from an imminent catastrophe." The report also indicated that "reactions varied between transferring Arab customs, traditions, and culture to Kurdistan, and its success in attracting a large number of Kurdish youth."
الاقتصاد وريادة الأعمال

Conflict
* Israeli occupation forces have killed a 16-year-old Palestinian girl during a tactical strike on the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank. The Palestinian Wellbeing Service said the girl was shot in the head on the roof of her home. Without a doubt, two different Palestinians were injured by Israeli fire during the strike, authorities said.
* There remains areas in Daraa and As-Suwayda, in southern Syria, that are still outside the effective control of the regime forces. This is effectively encouraging Syrian youth to move to these areas, in escape from the compulsory conscription imposed by the Syrian authorities. In April 2021, the regime issued a law specific to the Daraa governorate, according to which it gives young people who refuse compulsory service a period of one year in which they will receive an “administrative postponement” starting from the date of registration with the relevant authorities. Conflicting decisions followed, such as a decision banning travel – merely a month later, followed by a new decision allowing obtaining a "travel permit" from recruitment centers. A member of the negotiation committees in Daraa believes that this decision (issuing travel permits) is merely for financial reasons. With the massive demand for travel documents, black market arose. Young men wishing to obtain a passport resorted to paying millions of Syrian pounds to obtain it as soon as possible in order to catch up with immigrants or travelers abroad. Overall, young people who do not wish to serve their compulsory service have only two options: fleeing outside the country whether through legal or illegal means, or fleeing to areas outside the control of the regime.
* The UN envoy, Abdullah Batili, called for an end to the transitional stages, laying the foundations for security and preparing for elections in order to make 2023 a year of peace and stability in Libya. During his participation in the launch of the "United Nations Framework for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development", Batelli urged Libyan leaders to listen to the call of their people to put an end to the transitional phases. He added that Libya needs urgent political action to improve the quality of people's lives, including education, technology, and economic opportunities.
النزاعات
* قتلت قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي فتاة فلسطينية تبلغ من العمر 16 عاما خلال هجوم تكتيكي على مدينة جنين شمال الضفة الغربية. وقالت السلطات الفلسطينية إن الفتاة أصيبت برصاصة في رأسها على سطح منزلها. وقالت السلطات، دون شك، إن فلسطينيين مختلفين أصيبا بنيران إسرائيلية خلال الغارة.

Development
* The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation concluded the activities of the “Youth Knowledge Forum”, held in partnership with the United Nations Development Program. The forum included more than 20 dialogue and knowledge sessions on youth knowledge empowerment and to enhance their role in leading the paths of knowledge development. The closing day of the forum witnessed the organization of 4 dialogue sessions that discussed many topics, the most important of which is the role of innovation and technology in making the world more equitable, the challenges posed by the pandemic on the mental health of young people, reducing the financial knowledge gap between young generations, and the role of youth in supporting progress in implementing the sustainable development plan.
* The "Youth Dialogue Forum" in Libya revealed an initiative to solve the long-standing crises afflicting the country, as it seeks to draw a roadmap for a stable state. The Libyan National Youth Foundation confirmed that the "first Libyan youth" summit will be held next February, with the aim of crystallizing a vision for a stable, democratic and advanced country with young minds, and establishing peace and community participation. This came during a press conference for the "Youth Dialogue Forum", which is a youth civil institution that includes more than 7,000 members from all parts of Libya.
* The Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse, in Egypt, participated in the Youth Visions Salon organized by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the title “The Relationship of Social Media with Rumors and Their Impact on Youth and How to Address Them”. The event was attended by 2000 students at Alexandria University.

* اختتمت مؤسسة محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم للمعرفة فعاليات "منتدى المعرفة الشبابي" الذي أقيم بالشراكة مع برنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي. وتضمن المنتدى أكثر من 20 جلسة حوار ومعرفة حول التمكين المعرفي للشباب وتعزيز دورهم في قيادة مسارات تنمية المعرفة. وشهد اليوم الختامي للمنتدى تنظيم 4 جلسات حوارية ناقشت العديد من الموضوعات، من أهمها دور الابتكار والتكنولوجيا في جعل العالم أكثر إنصافاً، والتحديات التي يشكلها الوباء على الصحة النفسية للشباب، بالإضافة إلى تقليص فجوة المعرفة المالية بين الأجيال الشابة، ودور الشباب في دعم التقدم في تنفيذ خطة التنمية المستدامة.
* كشف "منتدى الحوار الشبابي" في ليبيا عن مبادرة لحل الأزمات المزمنة التي تعاني منها البلاد، حيث يسعى إلى رسم خارطة طريق لدولة مستقرة. أكدت المؤسسة الوطنية الليبية للشباب أن قمة "الشباب الليبي الأول" ستنعقد في شباط / فبراير المقبل، بهدف بلورة رؤية لبلد مستقر وديمقراطي ومتقدم عقول شابة، وترسيخ السلام والمشاركة المجتمعية. وجاء ذلك خلال مؤتمر صحفي لـ "منتدى حوار الشباب" وهو مؤسسة أهلية شبابية تضم أكثر من 7000 عضو من جميع أنحاء ليبيا.
* شارك صندوق مكافحة وعلاج الإدمان والتعاطي في مصر في صالون رؤى الشباب الذي نظمته مكتبة الإسكندرية بالتعاون مع وزارة الشباب والرياضة تحت عنوان "علاقة وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي بالإشاعات وأثرها على الشباب والشباب وكيفية مواجهتهم". وقد حضر الحفل 2000 طالب وطالبة في جامعة الإسكندرية.

Politics and Political Engagement
* The calls for a popular uprising against the Iranian regime expanded in various regions of Iran, after the execution of Mohsen Shakari, a 23-year-old protester in Tehran, and in conjunction with International Human Rights Day. The "Youth of the Neighborhoods of Tehran" group called on citizens to stage a protest march from Tawheed Square to Sadeghiyeh Square in Tehran on Saturday, December 10. The "Youth of Karaj Neighborhoods" also called on the people of this city to come down at six o'clock on Saturday, "in revenge" for the execution of Mohsen Shakari. The "Young People of Hamdan Neighborhoods " called on the people of the city to take to the streets on Saturday to express their anger at the execution of Mohsen Shakari in every neighborhood. The Foundation for the Promotion of Open Society called on people from all over the world to gather in different cities on Saturday as well in solidarity with the "revolution based on secular values and life-oriented demands" in Iran. This organization announced that 10 institutions and 30 cities have supported this call so far.
* In separate statements, the youth of the Iranian cities of Hamedan and Bandar Abbas called on Iranian citizens to organize a mass gathering on Saturday, to protest against the execution of the young man, Mohsen Shakari, and to refrain from shopping and banking operations on the day. In a statement titled, "Let's turn December 7 into a day of horror for the regime," the "Youth of Tehran Neighborhoods" group called for public gatherings from Sharif University to the east, and from Amir Kabir University of Technology to the west on Wednesday.
* The "Youth of Tehran Neighborhoods" group issued a statement calling on Iranian political organizations abroad to form an alliance as soon as possible, in order to define a mechanism for Iran's political horizon after the victory of the people's uprising. The statement read: "One day, despite our intellectual differences, we decided to unite in solidarity and focus on one goal, which is the overthrow of this murderous regime of children. This is the beginning of our conversation with all patriotic Iranians and freedom-seekers around the world." The statement added "the revolutionaries inside the country have been waiting for days for an event, and every day that this event is delayed causes the activists to despair. The statement warned that every day of "delay in forming such an alliance leads to more bloodshed by the criminal regime of the Islamic Republic."

* توسعت الدعوات لانتفاضة شعبية ضد النظام الإيراني في مناطق مختلفة من إيران، بعد إعدام محسن شكاري، متظاهر يبلغ من العمر 23 عامًا في طهران، وبالتزامن مع اليوم العالمي لحقوق الإنسان. ودعت مجموعة "شباب أحياء طهران" المواطنين إلى تنظيم مسيرة احتجاجية من ساحة التوحيد إلى ساحة الصادقية في طهران يوم السبت 10 كانون أول / ديسمبر. كما دعت "شباب أحياء كرج" أهالي هذه المدينة إلى النزول. الساعة السادسة من مساء يوم السبت "انتقاما" لإعدام محسن شكاري. وطالب "شباب أحياء حمدان" أهالي المدينة بالنزول إلى الشوارع يوم السبت للتعبير عن غضبهم من إعدام محسن شكاري في كل حي. ودعت مؤسسة تعزيز المجتمع المفتوح الناس من جميع أنحاء العالم إلى التجمع في مدن مختلفة يوم السبت وكذلك تضامناً مع "الثورة القائمة على القيم العلمانية والمطالب الموجهة للحياة" في إيران. وأعلنت هذه المنظمة أن 10 مؤسسات و 30 مدينة قد أدلت بدعمها لهذه الدعوة حتى الآن.
* في تصريحات منفصلة، دعا شباب مدينتي همدان وبندر عباس الإيرانيين المواطنين الإيرانيين إلى تنظيم تجمع حاشد يوم السبت، احتجاجا على إعدام الشاب محسن شكاري، والامتناع عن التسوق أو اجراء تداولات بنكية في ذلك اليوم. في بيان بعنوان "لنجعل السابع من ديسمبر يوم رعب للنظام" دعت جماعة "شباب أحياء طهران" إلى تجمعات عامة من جامعة شريف إلى الشرق ومن جامعة أمير كبير للتكنولوجيا إلى الغرب يوم الأربعاء.
* أصدرت جماعة "شباب أحياء طهران" بيانا دعت فيه المنظمات السياسية الإيرانية في الخارج إلى تشكيل تحالف بأسرع ما يمكن، وذلك من أجل تحديد آلية للأفق السياسي لإيران بعد انتصار انتفاضة الشعب. وجاء في البيان: "ذات يوم، وعلى الرغم من اختلافاتنا الفكرية، قررنا أن نتحد في تضامن وأن نركز على هدف واحد وهو الإطاحة بالنظام القاتل للأطفال هذا. وأضاف البيان أن "الثوار داخل البلاد ينتظرون منذ أيام حدثًا، وكل يوم يتأخر فيه هذا الحدث يدفع النشطاء إلى اليأس. وحذر البيان من أن كل يوم من "تأخير تشكيل مثل هذا التحالف يؤدي إلى مزيد من إراقة الدماء من قبل النظام الإجرامي للجمهورية الإسلامية".

* The Knowledge Youth Forum, organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Knowledge, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program, continued its activities last week. The events included holding 4 virtual sessions that discussed topics such as enhancing business opportunities in the virtual world, transforming education through technology, enhancing the ability of youth to innovate for purposeful economies, and unlimited challenges and opportunities for youth on social media.
* Orange held the first edition of the Orange Summer Challenge award ceremony in Jordan, after concluding the challenge that was launched at the Orange Digital Center, in partnership with GIZ, to support passionate, talented students in tech majors to create innovative solutions for sustainable development in cooperation with Ernest and Young (EY) and Google. The five participating teams pitched their projects at the event, which hosted more than 150 experts and professionals from academia, communications and information technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The three challenge winners were announced and received prizes from Orange Jordan, GIZ, as well as the EY prize, based on the project’s efficiency and sustainable impact.

* عقدت شركة أوارنج النسخة الأولى من حفل جائزة تحدي أوارنج الصيفي في الأردن، بعد اختتام التحدي الذي تم إطلاقه في مركز أوارنج الرقمي وبالشراكة مع الوكالة الألمانية للتنمية، وذلك لدعم الطلاب الموهوبين في التخصصات التقنية لخلق حلول مبتكرة للتنمية المستدامة، بالتعاون مع شركة انرنست آند يونغ وغوغل. وعرضت الفرق الخمسة المشاركة مشاريعها في هذا الحدث الذي استضاف أكثر من 150 خبيرًا ومحترفًا من الأوساط الأكاديمية وتكنولوجيا الاتصالات والمعلومات وريادة الأعمال والابتكار. وتم الإعلان عن الفائزين الثلاثة في التحدي وحصلوا على جوائز من أورانج الأردن والوكالة الألمانية للتنمية بالإضافة إلى جائزة ارنست آند يونغ، بناءً على كفاءة المشروع وتأثيره المستدام.

* The Houthi militia's violations against the people of the areas it controls in Yemen continue. It imposed more restrictions on the travel of young men to the city of Aden, for fear that they would join the government forces. It also arrested dozens at checkpoints between their areas of control and government-controlled areas on the outskirts of Taiz. Residents indicated that the militia removed the young men from cars or public transport buses to interrogate them, with many of them getting detained as a result.

* “Being a cause of change in someone’s life… a cause of their happiness and joy is a great blessing in life and has a lot of reward.” This is how young Jordanian Karam Qadara talks about the importance of volunteering in his life. Given the importance of volunteer work in the world, the United Nations has designated the fifth of December of each year as a date for celebrating International Volunteer Day, in honor of every person who works from their heart and supports others in all forms, without waiting for anything in return; "aid for the purpose of aid".
* On December 5, the Ummah Youth Center, in Palestine, organized a ceremony to honor its volunteers on the occasion of the International Volunteer Day. The ceremony comes in appreciation of the efforts of the volunteers during this year, where the honoring meeting was held in the Uptown Hall in Khan Yunis.
* In conjunction with the visit of the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation "Misk" organized a forum under the title "We look forward to the future", with the aim of opening the door for cultural exchange in areas and topics of interest to youth, especially in the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation, and culture. * في الخامس من كانون الأول / ديسمبر، نظم مركز شباب الأمة في فلسطين حفل تكريم لمتطوعيه بمناسبة يوم التطوع الدولي. ويأتي الحفل تقديرا لجهود المتطوعين خلال هذا العام، حيث أقيم حفل التكريم في قاعة أبتاون في خان يونس.
* بالتزامن مع زيارة الرئيس الصيني شي جين بينغ، نظمت مؤسسة محمد بن سلمان "مسك" منتدى تحت عنوان "نتطلع إلى المستقبل"، بهدف فتح باب التبادل الثقافي في المجالات والموضوعات التي تهم الشباب، لا سيما في مجالات ريادة الأعمال والابتكار والثقافة. وتضمن المنتدى أربع جلسات حوار رئيسية تتعلق بهذه المجالات.

* The Egyptian Ministry of State for Migration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad participated a session titled "Towards Zero Emissions" with the participation of 6 of the most prominent researchers and specialists from Egypt's youth abroad. The session dealt with a number of aspects that serve the country's strategy for sustainable development 2030, in addition to leveraging the latest research for Egypt in the field of energy, sustainability and green hydrogen, and digital transformation strategies to benefit from them in responding to climate change challenges.

* شاركت وزارة الدولة المصرية للهجرة وشؤون المصريين بالخارج في جلسة بعنوان " حو الوصول إلى صفر انبعاثات" بمشاركة 6 من أبرز الباحثين والمتخصصين من شباب مصر بالخارج. وتناولت الجلسة عددًا من الجوانب التي تخدم استراتيجية الدولة للتنمية المستدامة 2030، بالإضافة إلى الاستفادة من أحدث الأبحاث لمصر في مجال الطاقة والاستدامة والهيدروجين الأخضر، واستراتيجيات التحول الرقمي وذلك للاستفادة منها في الاستجابة لتحديات التغير المناخي.

Politics and Political Engagement
* AlJazeera published a report discussing the drivers behind Tunisian youth’s apathy toward parliamentary elections, particularly in the Sidi Bouzeid area. One of the interviewees stated that “youth will not reach parliament because corrupt money runs the elections, just as the next parliament will not have any powers according to the new constitution, and its role will be limited to passing laws imposed on it by the President of the Republic.” The report also attributes the state of pessimism among Tunisian youth to the deterioration of the situation, recalling the previous parliament, which - despite its negatives - was finding solutions to several problems, and was elected by the people, unlike the upcoming parliament. Like other governorates, the electoral sub-commission in Sidi Bouzid closed the center for accepting nominations for the upcoming elections, with a total of 76 candidates, including 18 young people aged 23 to 40 years, noting that the new electoral law set the minimum age for candidacy at 23 years, according to the regional coordinator of the authority, Nabil Jalali. Al-Jalali attributes the turnout of young people for candidacy to the fact that some of them have an electoral program to change the deteriorating social and economic reality of their regions. He adds that with major parties boycotting the legislative elections, youth see in themselves the ability to improve their conditions and those of their marginalized governorates.
* A 27-year-old Iranian man was killed in Gilan province, shortly after Iran’s football team lost to the United States in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The young man was shot as he was celebrating Iran’s loss, with some reports suggesting that he was hit by security forces for honking and celebrating the country’s defeat. This incident has drawn widespread anger and outrage. Police have denied reports that he was killed in their firing. Col. Syed Jafar Jawanmardi, a police officer, was quoted as saying that "considering the sensitivity of the matter and the possibility of abuse by some instigators," an investigation was started with the coordination of judicial authorities.
* The Siasat Daily published a report in which it illustrates how the Iranian regime, as it is being contested by youth, is turning more than before to Russia and China. Iran’s youth, especially those born in 2000 and later, are freedom seekers. They appear agnostic to the consequences of an insurrection against the regime in Tehran, even with a violent repression which has resulted in 448 deaths and some 15,000 arrests thus far. They are disenchanted with the regime, do not feel much affinity to the ideology, and are very much interconnected with other ways of living. The report suggests that Iran might be turning to the Chinese or Russian model of social control and foreign policy making to contain the uprising.
* Quoted by the official IRNA news agency, the country’s Supreme National Security Council said the number of people killed during unrest sparked by the death of 22-year Mahsa Amini “exceeds 200.” It said the figure included security officers, civilians, and “separatists” as well as “rioters” — a term used by Iranian officials to describe protesters. A general in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said more than 300 people had lost their lives in the unrest.

* قُتل شاب إيراني يبلغ من العمر 27 عامًا في مقاطعة جيلان، بعد وقت قصير من خسارة فريق كرة القدم الإيراني أمام الولايات المتحدة في كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2022. وأصيب الشاب برصاصة بينما كان يحتفل بخسارة إيران، وتشير بعض التقارير إلى أنه أصيب على يد قوات الأمن بسبب التزمير والاحتفال بهزيمة البلاد. وأثار هذا الحادث موجة من الغضب على نطاق واسع. ونفت الشرطة ما تردد عن مقتله في إطلاق النار. ونقل عن الضابط في الشرطة العقيد سيد جعفر جوانمردي قوله إنه "بالنظر إلى حساسية الأمر وإمكانية التعسف من قبل بعض المحرضين" بدأ التحقيق بالتنسيق مع السلطات القضائية.

* Israeli occupation forces arrested the founder of the “Youth Against Settlements” group, the human rights advocate, Issa Amro, after he was summoned for an interview at the “Ja’bara” police station near the “Kiryat Arba” settlement in Hebron, in the south of the West Bank. According to a statement by the "Youth Gathering Against Settlements", the occupation police informed Amro's family of his arrest until he was brought before the Ofer Military Court, next Wednesday. The assembly indicated that the arrest of Amro came two days after he documented the Israeli occupation soldiers' attack on activists in Hebron. The "Youth Against Settlement" group held the occupation responsible for Amro’s safety, as the group and Issa have recently been subjected to all kinds of attacks, harassment, and threats by settlers and the occupation army.
* The Palestinian Authority and Palestinian factions have condemned Israel's cold-blooded execution of a Palestinian youth in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus. PA President Mahmoud condemned the cold-blooded killing of Ammar Mefleh, 22, at the hands of an Israeli soldier in the town of Huwwara, in Nablus. Abbas said "These crimes that have become an official policy for the successive Israeli governments require urgent intervention to provide international protection for the defenseless Palestinian people." He added: "The continued international silence, impunity and lack of accountability have encouraged these governments to commit more crimes against the Palestinian people."
* The UAE representative to the UN Security Council, Mohamed Issa Aboushahab, said that it is necessary to resume talks about resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, indicating that there is an urgent need to de-escalate and prevent tensions from rising to an irreversible point. Aboushahab stressed that diplomacy and dialogue are "the only way" to end the conflict.” He also called on Israel to stop what he described as the "repeated incursions at holy sites and Palestinian areas by settlers and accompanying acts of violence."

* اعتقلت قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، مؤسس "تجمع شباب ضد الاستيطان"، المدافع عن حقوق الإنسان عيسى عمرو، بعد استدعائه لإجراء مقابلة في مركز شرطة "جعبارة" بالقرب من مستوطنة "كريات أربع" في مدينة الخليل، جنوب الضفة الغربية. وبحسب بيان صادر عن "تجمع شباب ضد الاستيطان"، أبلغت شرطة الاحتلال أسرة عمرو باعتقاله حتى مثوله أمام محكمة عوفر العسكرية، الأربعاء المقبل. وأشار التجمع إلى أن اعتقال عمرو جاء بعد يومين من توثيقه اعتداء جنود الاحتلال على النشطاء في الخليل. وحملت جماعة "شباب ضد الاستيطان" الاحتلال مسؤولية سلامة عمرو، حيث تعرضت الجماعة وعيسى في الآونة الأخيرة لكافة أنواع الاعتداءات والمضايقات والتهديدات من قبل المستوطنين وجيش الاحتلال.
* أدانت السلطة الفلسطينية والفصائل الفلسطينية إعدام إسرائيل بدم بارد لشاب فلسطيني في مدينة نابلس بالضفة الغربية المحتلة. أدان رئيس السلطة الفلسطينية، مقتل عمار مفلح، البالغ من العمر 22 عاما، بدم بارد على يد جندي إسرائيلي في بلدة حوارة بنابلس. وقال عباس إن "هذه الجرائم التي أصبحت سياسة رسمية للحكومات الإسرائيلية المتعاقبة تتطلب تدخلاً عاجلاً لتوفير الحماية الدولية للشعب الفلسطيني الأعزل". وأضاف: "استمرار الصمت الدولي والإفلات من العقاب وانعدام المساءلة شجع هذه الحكومات على ارتكاب المزيد من الجرائم ضد الشعب الفلسطيني".
* قال ممثل الإمارات في مجلس الأمن الدولي، محمد عيسى أبو شهاب، إنه من الضروري استئناف المحادثات حول حل الصراع الفلسطيني الإسرائيلي، مشيرا إلى أن هناك حاجة ملحة لوقف التصعيد ومنع تصاعد التوترات إلى نقطة لا رجعة فيها. وشدد أبو شهاب على أن الدبلوماسية والحوار هما "السبيل الوحيد" لإنهاء الصراع". كما دعا إسرائيل إلى وقف ما وصفه بـ "التوغلات المتكررة للأماكن المقدسة والأراضي الفلسطينية من قبل المستوطنين وما يصاحبها من أعمال عنف".

* The Women’s Affairs Team and the Women Against Violence Organization in Nazareth - Palestine, in partnership with CARE International, concluded the “My Future Decisions” project. The head of the women's affairs team, Dr. Areej Odeh said “This is the final conference of the “My Future Decisions” project, in which 40 young men and women from the West Bank participate and 40 from Gaza (only 16 were able to attend in person), and 40 from the 1948 lands. She added that despite the division and occupation, the meeting took place, in one hall. Odeh explained that the project targeted youth and women to enhance their role in political participation, establish initiatives, and link their common issues, such as political participation, promotion of gender equality, spreading gender culture, and changing society's stereotypical view. She indicated that among the most important recommendations is the need to enhance the political participation of women and youth, the need for political parties to activate the role of and empower youth and women, to establish integration between the media, women, and youth, to restore unity and end the division, and the need to issue legislation that legally protects women and youth, granting them their role, and integrating people with disabilities in the labor market.
* Friedrich Ebert Foundation delivered a training activity for 30 young men and women in Aden, Yemen. The training camp, which spanned 6 days, aimed to enhance the capabilities of the targeted young men and women in the political, economic, and social fields as well as building their leadership capabilities. The Director of Programs at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation stated that the program for strengthening youth capabilities is an extension of many continuous programs offered by the Foundation within the framework of its strategic objectives to enhance youth capabilities in various important fields.

* اختتم فريق شؤون المرأة ومنظمة النساء ضد العنف في الناصرة - فلسطين، بالشراكة مع منظمة كير الدولية، مشروع "قرارات مستقبلي". قالت رئيسة فريق شؤون المرأة، الدكتورة أريج عودة: "هذا هو المؤتمر الأخير لمشروع" قراراتي المستقبلية"، والذي شارك فيه 40 شابًا وشابة من الضفة الغربية و 40 من غزة (تمكن 16 فقط من الحضور بشكل وجاهي)، و 40 من أراضي الـ48. وأضافت أنه بالرغم من الانقسام والاحتلال إلا أن اللقاء جرى في قاعة واحدة. وأوضحن عودة أن المشروع استهدف الشباب والنساء لتعزيز دورهم في المشاركة السياسية، وإقامة المبادرات، وربط قضاياهم المشتركة، مثل المشاركة السياسية، وتعزيز المساواة بين الجنسين، ونشر ثقافة النوع الاجتماعي، وتغيير النظرة النمطية للمجتمع. وأشارت إلى أن من أهم التوصيات ضرورة تعزيز المشاركة السياسية للمرأة والشباب، وضرورة تفعيل الأحزاب السياسية لدور وتمكين الشباب والمرأة، لإرساء التكامل بين الإعلام والمرأة والشباب، استعادة الوحدة وإنهاء الانقسام، وضرورة إصدار تشريعات تحمي النساء والشباب قانونًا، ومنحهم دورهم، ودمج الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة في سوق العمل.

* BBC reported that at least 30 anti-government protesters have been killed by security forces in Kurdish-populated cities in west Iran in the past week, as per Hengaw, amid an intense crackdown by Revolutionary Guards armed with heavy weapons. On Monday, the funerals of two protesters turned into a mass rally. In one video, a protester can be heard saying the Revolutionary Guards are firing machine guns at people's heads. The footage, which has been verified by BBC Persian, also appears to show people covered in blood lying on a street and someone shouting that a girl has been shot in the head. Automatic gunfire can also be heard.

* Vice published a report discussing how young Iraqis are being discriminated against at public institutions for their appearance. “Brother, these are instructions that we have to abide by. No young man is allowed to enter while wearing short clothes or shorts.” This is what a police officer said to a young Iraqi trying to take his sick brother into the emergency room at the Sinjar Hospital in Ninewa. The policeman prevented them from entering even though he could see that the young man was in a bad condition. Several other Iraqis reported similar challenges, including those who have long and/or curly hair.
* The We Are All Jordan Youth Authority in Ma'an carried out training courses during the past week in several regions, targeting 140 young men and women, as the authority concluded its annual plan for the year 2022. The coordinator indicated that the cybersecurity course was implemented in cooperation with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Society, Which aimed to provide the trainees with methods of prevention from the dangers of the Internet, ways to deal with cybercrimes, and applications to protect personal information.
* A group of young people in Diyala in Iraq is trying to spread the culture of music as an alternative to the culture of violence and extremism, after the province suffered from terrorism that affected people's lives. Ahmed Shehab and Hassan Abada established a team to teach young people music and opened courses to teach amateurs. The work of these young people is not without challenges, as they complained about the lack of support and the difficulty of obtaining places to teach young people. That is why they train in cafes and homes, as well as the help of some civil society organizations.

Education
* Amman Net produced a report discussing practicing partisan activities within universities in Jordan. The report indicates that despite the government issuing a special system aimed at regulating the practice of partisan work for university students, politicians rule out its implementation on the ground, given that the system grants full powers to the deans of student affairs to approve student activities that will be held on campus, which may hinder the goals of youth political engagement. Many partisan and political parties have called for the need to develop common concepts and understandings between university administrations, student groups, and partisan activists about the next stages.
* Academics and students affirmed their complete commitment to the system for regulating the practice of student partisan activities in higher education institutions for the year 2022, which aims to encourage students to engage in political parties. Academics and students indicated that they will abide by the provisions of the system in terms of raising awareness, educating, and defining the electoral process, and encouraging each other to participate in the elections of student councils, unions, associations and student clubs. They indicated their commitment to holding partisan activity in the places and times approved by the provisions of this system, and to obtain written approval from the Deanship of Student Affairs before announcing or holding any partisan activity, stressing the importance of preserving the safety of the facilities of higher education institutions.

* Jordanian activists called for the boycott of the “Jordan Eco Park” on grounds its encouraged environmental cooperation between Jordanian, Palestinian, and Israeli youth. According to the findings of more than 45 national monitoring bodies, the park’s sponsors seek to integrate Jordanian and Palestinian youth into joint environmental programs and workshops, along with “Zionist” groups. Currently, the park is run by an organization registered in Jordan as a local institution under the name “Society for the Protection of the Earth and the Environment”, which is previously known as Earth’s Friends.
* The Egyptian Coordination’s Committee of Parties’ Youth Leadership and Politicians prepared a video report entitled "The Role of Youth in Solving the Climate Change Crisis". In its report, the Coordination indicated that the climate conference gives young voices a space for discussion on climate change issues, adding that youth awareness is increasing in relation to the challenges, risks, and opportunities to achieve sustainable development.

* Wide calls for nationwide protests and strikes in Iran and other parts of the world with the advent of the third anniversary of the killing of demonstrators in November 2019. Many institutions, unions and associations, as well as the families of victims of the anti-Iranian protests in 2019, called for demonstrations and strikes on the 15th, 16th and 17th of November. In a statement, the "Young Neighborhoods of Tehran" group called on citizens not to pay water, electricity and gas bills, in a manner similar to civil disobedience. She also urged them to abstain on those three days from doing banking and shopping, and from closing shops. * قالت صحيفة “نيويورك تايمز” الأمريكية إن الشباب واليافعين الإيرانيين يواجهون “كارثة وجودية”، حيث تم اعتقال المئات منهم لانضمامهم إلى التظاهرات المستمرة منذ شهرين، مما أدى إلى وفاة كثيرين في حملة قمع “وحشية” تشنها السلطات. ونقلت الصحيفة عن محامين ونشطاء إيرانيين قولهم إنه تم حبس فتاة (14 عامًا) في سجن للبالغين جنبًا إلى جنب مع مدمني المخدرات، كما تعرض مراهق (16 عامًا) لكسر في أنفه أثناء الاحتجاز بعد تعرضه للضرب من قبل رجال الأمن، بينما تعرضت طفلة (13 عامًا) لاعتداء جسدي من قبل ميليشيا داهمت مدرستها. وأضافت الصحيفة أن السلطات تستهدف آلاف القاصرين الذين تقل أعمارهم عن 18 عامًا لمشاركتهم في الاحتجاجات، وذلك وفقاً لمقابلات مع أشخاص عدة، بينهم محامون في إيران متورطون في قضايا ونشطاء حقوقيون، وكذلك الآباء والأقارب والمراهقون الذين يعيشون في البلاد. وأكدت المصادر للصحيفة مقتل 50 قاصراً على الأقل حتى الآن.
* مطالب بتفعيل دور الشباب بالمجتمع والعمل السياسي، وخلق فرص عمل لهم والعمل على الحد من البطالة، والعمل على خدمة المصلحة العامة وخدمة الشعب، وعدم جعل المجلس لخدمة المصالح الشخصية، وايصال صوتهم للحكومة وتحقيق مطالبهم هذا ما يرغب به شباب اليوم بعد تجارب عديدة مع توالي الدورات وتغيير الأشخاص.
* أكد رئيس مجموعة تواصل الشباب بالمملكة العربية السعودية عثمان المعمر أن مجموعة تواصل الشباب تعد من أهم المنصات العالمية لدى الشباب لقربها من متخذي القرار وقدرة تأثيرها على السياسات العامة الدولية، حيث يشارك فيها أكثر من 20 وفداً شبابياً من دول العشرين. وقدم الوفد توصياته المتعلقة بالسياسات العامة المعنية بشؤون الشباب، وذلك ضمن البيان الختامي لقمة قادة مجموعة العشرين، والذي يتضمن هذه التوصيات. وذكر أن وفد المملكة تضمن لهذا العام عددا من خريجي برنامج "الأصوات المتمكنة" التابع لمؤسسة محمد بن سلمان "مسك"، والذي بدوره يقوم بتأهيل الشباب السعودي لتمثيل المملكة في المحافل الدولية.

* According to a 2022 report by the International Labour Organization, the Arab states “have the highest and the fastest growing unemployment rate of young people worldwide, projected at 24.8 per cent” for people aged between 15 and 24, compared with the global average of 15.6 per cent. Reflected in this figure is a much higher unemployment rate among young women (42.5 per cent). “Young women continue to face serious obstacles in accessing decent and productive jobs when they do participate, driven by discriminatory practices, gender stereotypes and insufficient family-friendly policies. They bear the double burden of being both young and female,” Ruba Jaradat, ILO regional director for Arab States, tells Equal Times. It is important to note that the unemployment rate for people between 15 and 24 and the conditions they face vary significantly from one country to another. While the figure was close to 40 per cent in Jordan and Palestine at the end of 2021, it was 14 per cent in Oman and only 0.5 per cent in Qatar. According to a joint report by the ILO and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), even before the pandemic, the region needed to create as many as 33.3 million new jobs by 2030 to bring the regional unemployment rate down to 5 per cent and absorb the large number of young people who will enter the labor market.

* بدأت الثلاثاء فعاليات المؤتمر الرابع للمنشآت الصغيرة والمتوسطة، بعنوان "الحوار بين أصحاب العمل والعمال: نحو سياسات سوق عمل فعالة" والذي نظمته غرفة صناعة الأردن بالتعاون مع وزارة العمل والاتحاد العام لنقابات العمال. وقال مندوب وزير الصناعة والتجارة والتموين والعمل، امين عام الوزارة فاروق الحديدي خلال افتتاح المؤتمر، "اننا نشهد اليوم هاجساً مؤلماً هو البطالة يقف سداً منيعاً أمام التنمية الاقتصادية المستدامة، لتفاقم جائحة كورونا من تداعياته على الاقتصاد الوطني". وأكد الحديدي أهمية تبني جميع التوصيات المنبثقة عن هذا المؤتمر ضمن خطط عمل رؤية التحديث الاقتصادي، وبرامج عمل الوزارة المختلفة، وبما يحقق مصلحة الاقتصاد الوطني وتهيئة بيئة العمل للنهوض بكافة المنشآت الصغيرة والمتوسطة التي تشكل النسبة الأكبر من المنشآت العاملة في الاقتصاد الوطني. من جانبه أكد رئيس غرفة صناعة الأردن المهندس فتحي الجغبير، ان هذا المؤتمر، يأتي استكمالاً لدور الغرفة الذي تبنته على عاتقها منذ العام 2014 في رفع مستوى تأثير منظمات أصحاب العمل في السياسات العامة وتعزيز مساهمة أعضائها وخاصة المنشآت الصغيرة والمتوسطة في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة، من خلال ما قدمته الغرفة في مؤتمراتها الاقليمية الثلاثة السابقة.

And the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced, on Monday, that the high school student, Mahmoud Abdel-Jalil Al-Saadi (18 years old), died of critical injuries, which he was shot in the abdomen by the occupation forces, during their raid on Jenin. Jenin was stormed hours after a car exploded in the city. Israeli media said that the security establishment confirmed that the car that exploded in the area between the village of Ya`bad and the Dotan settlement in Jenin "was a car bomb with the aim of activating it against the Israeli army forces."

* إسرائيل قتلت فتى فلسطينياً كان في طريقه إلى المدرسة، عندما اقتحم الجيش مدينة جنين شمال الضفة الغربية، وحاصر منزل أحد المطلوبين، ما فجَّر اشتباكات مسلحة قبل اعتقاله. وأعلنت وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية، الاثنين، أن الطالب في الثانوية العامة محمود عبد الجليل السعدي (18 عاماً)، قضى متأثراً بجروح حرجة، أصيب بها برصاص قوات الاحتلال في البطن، خلال اقتحامها جنين. وجاء اقتحام جنين بعد ساعات من انفجار سيارة في المدينة. وقالت وسائل إعلام إسرائيلية، إن المؤسسة الأمنية تأكدت من أن السيارة التي انفجرت في المنطقة الواقعة بين قرية يعبد ومستوطنة دوتان بجنين "كانت سيارة مفخخة بهدف تفعيلها ضد قوات الجيش الإسرائيلي".
Development

* انتهت فعاليات منتدى الشباب في مدينة القامشلي بمحافظة الحسكة شمال شرقي سورية، مساء الخميس، وقد امتد على مدار يومين، وافتتحته منظمة "بيل" بالتعاون مع عدد من منظمات المجتمع المدني العاملة في المنطقة، وكان محور المنتدى "خطاب الكراهية وتعزيز التماسك المجتمعي".

* Huawei Tunisia organized the annual ceremony of the "Seeds for the future" program for the year 2022, in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on Monday, November 14th, at the Laico Hotel in Tunis. The event was organized under the high supervision of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Moncef Boukathir, His Excellency the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Tunisia, Mr. Zhang Jianguo, and the General Manager of Huawei in Tunisia, Mr. Lin Xingshuo and Vice President in charge of Public Relations for the Mediterranean region of Huawei North Africa, Mr. Adnan Ben Halima. * نظمت هواوي تونس الحفل السنوي لبرنامج "بذور من أجل المستقبل" لسنة 2022 بالشراكة مع وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي التونسية، وذلك يوم الاثنين 14 تشرين ثاني / نوفمبر في فندق لايكو بتونس العاصمة. وانتظم الحدث تحت سامي إشراف وزير التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي، السيد منصف بوكثير، وسعادة سفير جمهورية الصين الشعبية في تونس، السيد جانغ جيانقوه، والمدير العام لشركة هواوي في تونس، السيد شينشاو ونائب الرئيس المسؤول عن العلاقات العامة لمنطقة البحر الأبيض المتوسط بشركة هواوي شمال إفريقيا، السيد عدنان بن حليمة. تم إطلاق برنامج بذور من أجل المستقبل في تونس منذ سنة 2015. وقد وقع الاختيار هذه السنة على 26 طالبا تونسيا للمشاركة في هذا البرنامج التدريبي لمدة 7 أيام مع أفضل الخبراء الدوليين والصينيين والتونسيين. وجدد وزير التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي التونسي، السيد منصف بوكثير، خلال كلمته الافتتاحية، رغبته في زيادة تعزيز العلاقات الطيبة بين تونس والصين وتحقيق التعاون الوثيق بين البلدين. كما أعرب عن تقديره للفرص التي تقدمها هواوي للطلاب التونسيين لما لها من تأثير إيجابي على مستقبل الشباب في البلاد.

* The "Youth for Sustainability" initiative of Masdar, one of the fastest growing clean energy companies in the world, is hosting a series of events on the sidelines of the Climate Conference (COP27), which brought together elite sector leaders and decision-makers from the region and the world, as well as students and young professionals, with the aim of enabling youth to participate in climate action. Through a workshop organized by COP27, a group of young people from the UAE, Africa and Europe gathered to work on developing sustainable and innovative solutions that serve communities. The platform hosted a Youth Forum for Sustainability for Africa on November 11 under the theme "Enhancing Youth Resilience and Resilience for a Sustainable Future in Africa".
* The Federal Youth Foundation, in cooperation with the Office of the UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change, announced the launch of the first session of the "Emirates Youth Climate Delegates Programme", which aims to raise youth awareness of the UAE's role in climate issues, take their views and needs into international climate policy, and discover the latest practices. Politics and Political Engagement
* Iranian armed forces have arrested an alleged employee of an opposition television broadcaster, Iran International, while the individual was fleeing the country. On Tuesday, Iran's intelligence minister, Esmail Khatib, called the London-based channel a "terrorist" organization. "Recently, the agent carried out numerous activities and actions in slandering the Islamic Republic, inviting youth to riot and creating terror among the people," Fars said about the arrest. On Wednesday, the BBC reported that a UK law enforcement source had confirmed that two British-Iranian journalists working for Iran International had been warned of a possible risk to their lives. The Iranian government announced in October sanctions against Iran International and BBC News Persian, accusing them of "incitement of riots" and "support of terrorism" over their coverage of the ongoing anti-government protests.
* The majority of young people in Iraq want a secular or civil system. Although Islam is a source of legislation in it, the most important thing for them is that religious parties should not have a role in politics because they exploit religion and religious feelings to achieve personal, partisan and worldly gains. * يريد أغلبية الشباب في العراق نظاما علمانيا أو مدنيا وإن كان الإسلام مصدرا من مصادر التشريع فيه، إلا أن الأهم بالنسبة إليهم هو ألا يكون للأحزاب الدينية دور في السياسة لأنها تستغل الدين والمشاعر الدينية لتحقيق مكاسب شخصية وحزبية ودنيوية. وأفادت نتائج استطلاع أجراه “مركز تمكين السلام” في العراق بأن قطاعا كبيرا من الشباب العراقي يؤيدون تقليص دور رجال الدين في الحياة العامة.
* عبرت مجموعة شباب قطر ضد التطبيع، وهي جماعة قطرية تنادي بعدم إقامة علاقات مع الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، عن صدمتها بعد إعلان سلطاتها عن رحلات جوية مباشرة مع "إسرائيل" قبل أيام من انطلاق كأس العالم. منحت وزارة الخارجية الإسرائيلية الحق في فتح مكتب في قطر لتزويد الإسرائيليين الذين يحضرون كأس العالم بالخدمات القنصلية.

* Saudi minister of economy and planning, Faisal bin Fadel Al-Ibrahim, discussed the importance of investing in the Saudi youth. The minister said young people are “the guardians of tomorrow’s economy” and the key to driving the Kingdom’s economic transformation under Vision 2030. The minister said that: "Vision 2030 was designed to lay the foundations for growth, bringing the Kingdom together on a journey towards a common, prosperous future,". * Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman announced the launch of the Maaref Center for the Revolving Carbon Economy in January 2023, calling on all partners and interested parties to join it to exchange experiences and technology and exchange lessons learned. * أعلن وزير الطاقة السعودي الأمير عبد العزيز بن سلمان إطلاق مركز معارف للاقتصاد الكربوني الدوار في يناير 2023، داعيا جميع الشركاء والمهتمين الى الانضمام له لتبادل الخبرات والتكنولوجيا وتبادل الدروس المستفادة. وقال وزير الطاقة السعودي "سنطلق أيضا العام المقبل مركزا إقليميا للنهوض بخفض الانبعاثات وسط مدينة الرياض، حيث عملنا عليه على مدار العام الماضي مع لجنة الأمم المتحدة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لغرب آسيا "الإسكوا" من أجل إنشائه"، منوها بأن السعودية قيادة وشعبا تريد الأفضل من أجل المستقبل.

* A Palestinian youth was killed early on Wednesday during an army-protected incursion by far-right Israeli lawmakers at a religious site in Nablus in the occupied West Bank, hours before another Palestinian man was shot dead near Jenin. Mahdi Mohammad Hashash, 15, died in a Nablus hospital after shrapnel hit his body during armed clashes that erupted in the vicinity of Joseph’s Tomb, following the arrival of Israeli forces in the area, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Later in the day, Israeli forces shot dead 29-year-old Rafaat Ali Abdallah Issah near the separation wall west of Jenin, the Palestinian health ministry said. The violence in Nablus began when Israeli forces entered the area with armoured vehicles in the early hours of Wednesday to escort outgoing and incoming right-wing MPs to Joseph’s Tomb. The Wednesday tour was arranged for members of the far-right Religious Zionism alliance, the ultra-Orthodox Shas party and Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud. Issah's shooting takes the current death toll of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank this year to 137, including at least 30 children. In the same period, at least 22 Israelis have been killed by Palestinians in various attacks, five of them shot dead in the occupied West Bank.
* A young man was wounded by live bullets by the occupation, this evening, Sunday, during clashes in the southern area of Hebron.

* A Palestinian foundation in the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday, that Palestinian volunteers will participate in organizing the World Cup events hosted by Qatar. Anadolu Agency quoted Ahmed Hegazy, Director General of the Amwaj Media Network (sports) and coordinator of the mission, as saying: "This volunteer mission, consisting of 28 Palestinians, will leave the Gaza Strip, on Sunday."

* أعلنت مؤسسة فلسطينية في قطاع غزة، يوم السبت، أن متطوعين فلسطينيين سيشاركون في تنظيم فعاليات كأس العالم التي تستضيفها قطر. ونقلت وكالة "الأناضول"، عن أحمد حجازي، مدير عام شبكة أمواج الإعلامية (رياضية) ومنسق البعثة، قوله: "إن هذه البعثة التطوعية المكونة من 28 فلسطينياً، ستغادر قطاع غزة، الأحد".

* Sharm El Sheikh Sunday hosted a panel discussion titled “The importance of climate action”, which was held as part of the second day of the Saudi Green Initiative Forum, organized on the sidelines of COP27. The session covered the importance of increasing mobility to decarbonize the region, the role of finance in enhancing climate action, and the necessity of joint regional and international cooperation to address the challenge of climate change. Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman said: "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia adopts a balanced approach to addressing climate change." He also noted that such initiatives provide a better opportunity for young people to achieve these aspirations and demonstrate their commitment to them and that the youth will especially benefit greatly from such endeavors.
* Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received in Sharm El Sheikh Thursday, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and her accompanying delegation, on sidelines of COP27. “At COP27, as the world stands ‘Together For Implementation,’ our distinguished and experienced delegation will engage in meetings with our partners — as well as civil society, youth and business leaders — to discuss the work that must be done to continue our progress to advance climate action and protect the planet,” Pelosi said in a statement.
* Ahmed Abu Ali, an economic researcher, praised the success of the climate summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, stressing that the size of the equipment made on the land of Sharm el-Sheikh was more than wonderful, and conference tourism must be promoted, commenting that the Egyptian youth had a prominent role in the success of the climate summit.

* Nearly half of young people in the Middle East and North Africa have reconsidered having children because of climate change, according to the United Nations’ children’s agency. According to a global poll conducted on behalf of UNICEF, 44 percent of youth in the region say the impacts of climate change have made them think twice about starting a family. In the Middle East and North Africa, 31 percent of respondents said they had less food to eat because of climate change, and 34 percent said their family’s income source had been hit. Meanwhile, 35 percent of youth in the region said they were finding it increasingly difficult to access clean water, and 70 percent said they have considered moving to another country or city because of the effects of climate change.
* Princess Noura bint Turki Al Saud, co-founder of the ION Collective platform, called on young people to overcome the “disappointments of the present” and draw inspiration from the “Green Saudi Arabia” initiative. Princess Noura said, during the session “What do young people want from companies?”, on the second day of the “Green Saudi Initiative” forum, that during her various visits to countries of the world, she felt a sense of frustration and fear about the future among young people, and these feelings are justified because of what they suffer. The world is full of turmoil and frightening effects of climate change. The princess stressed that the essence of this initiative is that "climate action must be part of any development work." Sarah Al-Ghamdi, a graduate of the Mawhiba Foundation, drew attention to the importance of young people being supportive of the environment by choosing products that take into account environmental goals, but this requires companies to have more transparency that helps in decision-making.

* استضافت شرم الشيخ الأحد ندوة نقاشية بعنوان "أهمية العمل المناخي"، والتي عقدت كجزء من اليوم الثاني لمنتدى المبادرة الخضراء السعودية، والذي تم تنظيمه على هامش الدورة السابعة والعشرين لمؤتمر الأطراف. وتناولت الجلسة أهمية زيادة الحراك لإزالة الكربون من المنطقة، ودور التمويل في تعزيز العمل المناخي، وضرورة التعاون الإقليمي والدولي المشترك لمواجهة تحدي تغير المناخ. وقال وزير الطاقة الأمير عبد العزيز بن سلمان: "المملكة العربية السعودية تتبنى نهجا متوازنا لمواجهة تغير المناخ". وأشار إلى أن مثل هذه المبادرات توفر فرصة أفضل للشباب لتحقيق هذه التطلعات وإثبات التزامهم بها وأن الشباب سيستفيدون بشكل خاص من هذه المساعي.
* استقبل الرئيس المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي في شرم الشيخ، يوم الخميس، رئيسة مجلس النواب الأمريكي نانسي بيلوسي والوفد المرافق لها، على هامش الدورة السابعة والعشرين لمؤتمر الأطراف. وقالت بيلوسي "في مؤتمر الأطراف، حيث يقف العالم معًا من أجل التنفيذ، سيشارك وفدنا المتميز وذوي الخبرة في اجتماعات مع شركائنا - وكذلك المجتمع المدني والشباب وقادة الأعمال - لمناقشة العمل الذي يجب القيام به لمواصلة تقدمنا"، وذلك في بيان "لدفع العمل المناخي وحماية الكوكب".
* أشاد أحمد أبو علي الباحث الاقتصادي، بنجاح قمة المناخ بمدينة شرم الشيخ، مشددًا على أن حجم التجهيزات التي تمت على أرض شرم الشيخ كانت أكثر من رائعة، ولا بد من النهوض بسياحة المؤتمرات، معقبًا أن الشباب المصري كان له دور بارز في نجاح قمة المناخ.
* قال وزير الشباب والرياضة المصري، أشرف صبحي: "فخورون بهذا النجاح من ناحية التنظيم وحشد الآلاف من المعنيين الدوليين بموضوعات المناخ لبحث جميع التحديات وكيفية التصدي لها"، مشيراً إلى أن الشباب بذلوا جهوداً ضخمة في تنظيم وإنجاح مؤتمر الأطراف بنسخته السابعة والعشرين من خلال تواجدهم القوي في هذا العمل ليس فقط من خلال التطوع، وإنما من خلال أنشطة فنية كثيرة قبل وأثناء تنظيم الحدث.

* دعت الأميرة نورة بنت تركي آل سعود، المؤسس المشارك لمنصة "أيون كولكتيف"، الشباب إلى تجاوز "إحباطات الحاضر"، واستلهام الأمل من مبادرة "السعودية الخضراء". وقالت الأميرة نورة، خلال جلسة "ماذا يريد الشباب من الشركات؟"، في اليوم الثاني من منتدى "مبادرة السعودية الخضراء"، إنها في زياراتها المختلفة لدول العالم، تلمس شعوراً بالإحباط والخوف من المستقبل عند الشباب، وهي مشاعر لها ما يبررها بسبب ما يعانيه العالم من اضطرابات وتأثيرات مخيفة لتغيرات المناخ. وشددت الأميرة على أن جوهر هذه المبادرة هو أن "العمل المناخي لا بد أن يكون جزءاً من أي عمل تنموي". ولفتت سارة الغامدي، إحدى خريجات مؤسسة "موهبة"، الانتباه إلى أهمية أن يكون الشباب داعماً للبيئة من خلال اختيار المنتجات التي تراعي الأهداف البيئة، ولكن هذا يقتضي أن تتحلى الشركات بمزيد من الشفافية التي تساعد على اتخاذ القرار.
